I sat at our usual lunch table with my small bag of nuts, observing the huge posters spread around the cafeteria advertising Valentine's Day. I snorted to myself at the thought of it, and even if I was currently in a relationship it didn't change my mind on the day. I would be spoiling the shit out of Kimberly later today, there's no doubt about that in my mind, but it was overpriced and the biggest hoax of the century.
"Why would I be going to the dance, Gareth?" Jeff scoffed and asked our curly haired friend. Gareth looked at him and shook his head.
"The booze!..obviously." He exclaimed to Jeff with an eye roll.
"What are you two talking about?" I interrupted their conversation, wanting to know what was happening with booze.
"The school dance; Hearts in Hawkins." Stanley replied for them with a laughed up scoff. I looked over to the other two boys sat infront of me with a stare.
"What?" Gareth asked due to my facial expression.
"Hearts of fucking Hawkins? Could they have chosen anything worse?" I shook my head and leant back in my chair, waiting for them to agree with me.
"Either way, I'm going. I got my self a date." Gareth ignored my questions and mentioned himself going to the ball.
"Who?"
"No you don't."
"HA!."
The three of us spoke at the same time, not believing a word he said. His mouth hung open in shock, not happy with our responses.
"Seriously, guys?" He asked in disbelief.
"You're a shit liar." Jeff said with a light snort, fist pumping Stanley afterwards.
"I'm not lying. It's Casey Libaburgh." He shrugged and held a smirk on his face, leaning over his tray of food to try and hide it.
"Casey Libaburgh??" Jeff asked and shoved Gareth's shoulder with a whistle. "Confirmed!." He said and paused. "Gareth is the worlds worse liar." Jeff burst out laughing, causing me and Stanley to look between one another and smirk.
"Fuck off, man!." Gareth tutted and shook his head with a stern expression. "What about you, Eddie?" He turned his attention to me. "What are you and Kim doing?. Is she forcing you to the dance?." He asked.
"Nah. I've got something planned for us." My arms stayed crossed over my chest as I was still leant back in my chair, observing my 3 friends.
"I thought you didn't believe in Valentine's Day?" Stanley asked seriously. "You said, and I quote, 'scamming capitalist trying to take our money and for what? All it is is stupid cards and flowers.'" All eyes were now on me.
"Is she that special?" Jeff asked me directly with a smirk, nudging Gareth who laughed with him.
"Who's licking your dick, Jeff? Because I'm pretty sure the answer is nobody." I snapped back at him half serious, sitting forward now.
"Don't bring my relationship status into this. This is about you and Kimberly practicing being married." He shot back, leaning his forearms onto the table.
"Where is she?" Stanley asked from besides us.
"Fuck knows. Probably with douchebag Harrington." I shrugged and continued to pick at my half eaten bag of nuts.
