I daren't enter that pool with Kim in it. There wasn't a single part of me that was certain I'd be able to control myself around her, especially not as she bopped around that pool in only her underwear.

Not-a-chance.

I sat and watched the girl from the sidelines, piping into the conversation every now and again as not to draw suspicion to myself. It frustrated me that I couldn't do anything but stare, hoping that she could read my mind and understand that I wanted to get into the water with her and wrap my arm around her tiny shoulder, make her feel loved the way I use to. It was entirely my fault I couldn't do these things, and yet here I was, still deluded by the thought that maybe she could forgive me without me even having to try.

"Anybody want another?." Steve said and stood up from the deck chair. Everybody but Kathleen, Kim and Billy took Steve up on his offer. I couldn't say I was particularly happy to sit and watch Kim drink what happened to be her fourth beer of the night, but she seemed to be taking it slower than the rest and she was being careful. She knew herself just as much as I.

"Stare any longer and the rest might just fall off." Billy nudged my bicep and spoke lowly from besides me. I finally lifted my eyes from Kim to the boy who I had only just forgiven. He was staring at me with an amused look.

"What?." I asked him and blinked a couple of times.

"Dude, you've been staring at her since you got here. It's starting to get creepy." Billy snickered and shook his head, taking a sip from the can in his hand.

"I haven't been staring." I denied his words.

"Yes you have." Billy argued with me. I scoffed at him and turned my attention back to the three girls in the pool, watching as Kim lifted herself up from the pools water and started the walk over to me and Billy who were sat by the back doors.

"Boys." She smiled politely at us as she walked past, holding her forearms over her breasts.

"Kimberly." Billy said back to her. Her eyes rolled at Billy's words and I stayed quiet, very fucking focused on making sure I didn't say the wrong thing to her.

"Steve!. You got a towel I can.." I heard her voice getting further away and sighed to myself, wondering how I had managed to become the tongue tied, prepubescent little boy from all those years ago. The Eddie Munson not a single person cared about.

Robin and Kathleen followed Kim into the home to which both me and Billy followed behind.

"Nice ass, Cherokee." Billy said and gave Kathleen's ass a tap, making the girl giggle and swat his arm.

"Just because I'm single, doesn't mean you get to start flirting with me, Bil." She lightly scolded him with a large grin across her face. Oh, she was loving this.

"What do you mean start flirting?." He asked her smugly as I closed the doors to the back of the home. "I've been flirting with you since the day I met you, doll." Billy gave her a pet name and I cringed at the interaction between my two friends.

"Can you give it a rest?." I asked and fake gagged as I walked over to Steve's couch and threw myself down into it. "Gonna puke up all that booze." I said and heard Kathleen scoff at my words.

"At least you know how it feels now, Munson." Kathleen said as she walked off to ascend the stairs.

"Me and Kim weren't like that." I said to the two remaining, Robin and Billy, and pointed behind me to indicate Billy and Kath's previous encounter.
