The school was deadly silent when I arrived back into the hallway that lead out to the back. It was my free period now but that only meant I had nothing to do. I would have stayed with Eddie, but I had no clue to where he'd be. Usually I'd assume he'd be out at the bench, but me and Steve had just walked here from there and I'm sure I would've spotted a 5'11 stoner with long hair.

I let my legs carry me through the school and out into the parking lot where the sun had been shining all morning. I let my skin absorb the heat and light from the biggest star known to exist and stood like that for a couple of minutes, just enjoying this one moment of bliss.

I heard the sound of heavy footsteps approaching me so I opened one eye and watched my surroundings.

"What are you doing?" The girl who must've had a free period also asked as she came to a stop besides me.

"Sun bathing." I replied with a smile, closing my eye again and ignoring her presence. I heard her scoff in astonishment at my behaviour before sulking off to wherever she spent her days in her sad little life.

"Kimberly, what the fuck are you doing?"

"Does nobody understand the importance of privacy anymore? I mean, I've been out here for all of 5 minutes and I've already been interrupted by two idiots!." I sighed frustratedly and opened my eyes to who ever it was that so rudely ruined my day. "Oh. Hello Jeff...How are you on this..fine day?" I asked hesitant as I had just outburst at him.

"I'm better now you've got some things off of your chest." He said with a grin.

"You don't, by any chance, know where I could find Eddie..do you?" I put one hand over my eye to block the sun whilst pretending to be innocent, not really ever having been myself around Eddie's friends incase I scared them.

"He's in his van, sulking." He answered with a shrug, nodding his head at me afterwards and leaving me be under the sun's beam. I took a look around at my environment before walking over to the far side of the car park and over to Eddie's van.

I gave the back doors three knocks and waited for him to answer, but he didn't.

"Eddie?.." I asked into the van doors. "Eddie. I know you're in there." I spoke again. Still no answer. "Are you..okay?" I tried one last time, leaning my hand on the door as time passed.

Eventually, he opened the van door slowly. He had a joint in one hand and a Walkman in the other. I smiled kindly at him, looking into his eyes and only seeing darkness. It was that same look he had back in the principals office, the one that scared the living shit out of me.

"Have fun on your play date, did you?" He asked in a snappy tone, scoffing and leaving the door open as he stepped backwards and sat on the floor to his van.  I stepped in and closed the door behind me, watching him from where I was stood a little confused due to his behaviour.

"He apologised like you told me he would, why are you angry?" I questioned him, slowly taking a seat facing him in between his open legs. He left his head lowered so he didn't have to look at me.

"It didn't take long for you to go running back, did it?" He laughed. "Why can't you see how much of an asshole he is?"

"I know he's an asshole, Eddie. I've been friends with him for nearly a year, but he's softer now; he's changing." I once again sat and defended Steve Harrington from the world.
