The shorter than it should've been journey home was awkward and silent. Nobody said anything to anybody and I had a feeling they knew it was because I would snap at them again.
In my mind, we were all done. I couldn't keep doing this, not whilst I had a tremendous amount of pain and suffering weighing down on my shoulders, all so that I could get better for them. But they didn't seem to care about me, or each other for that matter.
Steve lay asleep in Robins lap as she herself napped. Kathleen was cuddled into a blanket besides Dustin who was playing a card game with Lucas, who had a sleeping Max tucked into his side. Billy drove us home as I refused to do so, too tired and upset to allow myself behind the wheel. I stayed sat in the passenger seat up until we got back to Billy's.
"Kim." Billy said my name as he stood up in between my chair and his. I looked up to him as I listened to the scattering of feet behind me. "Do you want to stay over?. I'll drive you home in the mornin." He said with a weak smile, but I didn't return it.
"No. I'm good. I'll drive myself home." I said bluntly and stood up, dropping my weight into the drivers seat and starting up the caravan again.
Billy sighed and stayed looking down at the passenger seat for a few seconds before he walked out of the vehicle with his stuff, shutting the door harshly behind himself.
It didn't take long for me to get home from Billy and Max's house, and I was glad to see my own home as I pulled up to my street. The street lamps were shining brightly onto the sidewalk as I stepped out and walked up my drive, unlocking my door to the silence of the two AM night.
"Home sweet home." I muttered to myself, kicking off my shoes and locking the door behind me before making a b line for the kitchen to grab some snacks and head up to my room, ready to let the depression kick in.
I made sure to be silent as I did whatever it was I needed before making my way to my room and locking myself in, dropping the snacks on my bed and picking up the phone.
There was only one person who could convince me I wasn't crazy, and that I was every bit right for doing what I had tonight.
"Hello?." His voice sounded down the line, and I was sure I had just woken him up.
"Hey." I sniffed with a small chuckle, so happy to hear his voice.
"Kim?." Eddie asked tiredly." "Is everything okay?." He asked a little clearer this time.
"Not really." I laughed weakly to myself and sat on the edge of my bed, hearing the distant snacks fall into each other at the sudden dip. "I'm sorry if I woke you-"
"Don't be. I'm in a room on my own here." Eddie discarded my apology as if it was nothing. "What's happened?. You're not hurt, are you?." Eddie started up the Q&A again.
"I'm fine, physically."
"Physically?." He asked as I leant back onto my bed, twirling the cord around my finger.
"I can't do it anymore, Ed." I sobbed down the phone to the boy who I was deeply wishing was by my side right now.
"Hey, hey. Kim." Eddie tried to sooth me. "Please don't cry, princess." He begged gently.
"I can't help it." I said. "It's so hard." I was clearly trying not to admit what tonight had lead to.
"Tell me what happened." Eddie tried to get me straight to the point. I sniffled and sucked a deep breath in through my puckering lips.
