The drive back to the trailer was deafening and unpredictably the most uncomfortable experience I've ever had the likes of having with Billy. There wasn't a single word uttered as the car drove down the empty lanes and illuminated side streets. I couldn't tell you why me nor Billy spoke a word to each other, not even as I got out of his car and walked across the way to what I was calling home, but I'd definitely be avoiding another situation like that at all costs.
The house was deadlocked as I entered it and I knew that meant Eddie was either asleep or lurking about somewhere, waiting for the sound of the doors clicking and locks latching, an indication I was home.
I dropped my jacket onto the counter top and walked around it to the fridge, grabbing myself a half eaten, leftover sandwich to cure the deep growling in the acidly pit inside of me. As I shut the refrigerator and picked at the sandwich, I heard a small shuffle and I stood frozen, letting the initial fear wear off before I realised that Eddie was sat behind me on the couch.
"A hi would've been nice." I said with food in my mouth, turning my back so I could now face the boy who was sat in the dark corner.
Did he think he was some kind of vampire?.
"Hi." Eddie mumbled and I snorted annoyed, hating the dynamic we had created around one another.
I sighed and put the half wrapped food on the counter and leant besides it, watching the shadow of Eddie barely move. He had one hand on his knee whilst his other played with a piece of hair dangling infront of his face. I watched as his middle finger tapped away at the tip of his knee and his foot bounced off of the floor lightly.
"We need to talk." I said, breaking the intense silence.
" 'bout what?." Eddies tone was flat as he asked.
"Everything." I scoffed lightly. "Us." I looked down and gave my lip a quick bite as the pain in my chest felt as though my heart was shattering. "I want to know why it's so hard for you to trust me around other males." I said and looked back up to him, hearing him sigh as he leant over and rested his elbows on his knees.
"I already told you." Eddie rubbed his hands over his face, bringing them back down to his lips. "It's not you I don't trust-"
"It's them." I cut him off, not hearing what I had thought was the truth. "That's bullshit, Eddie." My tone wasn't harsh but it wasn't exactly gentle. "If it was me you trusted, then you wouldn't get so worked up about other people finding me attractive." I pushed myself off of the counter and stood up straight.
"They're not just strangers, Kim." Eddie lifted his head to look at me. "They're my friends..our friends." A scoff left his lips. "How can I possibly sit in a room with somebody who I know feels the same way for you that I do?. And you expect me to be okay with that?." He asked and I shook my head no, understanding where he was coming from. "What makes it that bit more disrespectful is that it's Billy. The same guy who helped my business boom, the guy that I took to meet Metallica instead of Stanley because he was busy and Billy told me he had taken a liking to them. Billy is the fucking guy who made sure to check up on me when you decided to call it quits with me. Nobody else!. Billy!." Eddie was raising his voice slowly but surely. "How can you not understand why I'm so fucking angry?." Eddie stood up and I could now see his face from the reflection of the outside atmosphere shining in through his living room window.
