After I woke up from another nightmare, I cried my eyes out for over an hour before I eventually calmed down to the sound of Michael and Andrew crying in my parents room. I sat still and waited for them to quiet down, an indication that my mum had woke up and at least attempted to put them back to sleep, but they never stopped. So, I got up out of bed, shoving on my dressing gown and slouched across the hall, opening the door and closing it as silently as possible.

"Hey, shh shh." I picked up Michael first, holding him steadily in one arm before carefully picking up Andrew with my other. It had taken me over a month to learn how to rock them at the same time, but it made life so much easier so it was worth the wait. "What are you crying for, huh? Are you guys hungry?." I whispered to them in a soft and gentle voice, occasionally looking over to my mum to see her stir in her sleep every now and again.

My father had left abruptly the night that Billy snook in, and it would've been nice to at least say goodbye to him, but my parents weren't on the best of terms right now and it was better if they weren't in the same room as one another. Nobody wanted a repeat of Friday night.

The boys had hushed to little murmurs before their eyes closed, letting the rocking of my body send them back into deep slumbers. I sighed through my nostrils, becoming exhausted with waking up to their screams everyday at early hours in the morning, especially after a nightmare or one of the days I had school.

I never thought I'd miss school, but now that I only went in 3 full days and 2 half days a week I was missing it dreadfully. I missed seeing Eddie's face every Friday in our free period and Steve's hair bobbing up and down through the crowded corridors. Kathleen's loud laughs as Steve tickled her when she annoyed him and Billy's smile and nod every morning without a doubt when he saw me. I'd even missed Andrew Davidson trying to get a reaction out of Eddie by saying something rude towards me. It was the little things yet they meant the most to me.

As I sat back down on my bed, I thought about how much I missed the group, and now that we had a few new additions it made me think that we had never actually been all together in the same room.

Suddenly, I remembered that my brother had bought a lake house in Fort Wayne for the summers, now that he and Abi were on their second child and he thought they should do little family holidays together.

Oh yeah, Abigail's pregnant. I forgot to mention that.

I rolled over and saw the time was 6:34am which meant he would be leaving for work in 25 minutes, so I picked up the phone and dialled in his number, listening to the screeching rings until he picked up.

"Hello?." He asked, his mouth clearly filled with food. He was disgusting.

"Hey big bro. I need to ask you a favour." I got straight to it, understanding he hardly had time for a catch up.

"What's up, speccy?" He asked with a snort, referring to the time I had to wear glasses as a kid and he and Jon bullied me into never wearing them again.

"Don't call me that." I groaned. "I was wondering if I could come and stay at that cabin in Fort Wayne, you know, for like the weekend with a few friends. I really need a break from the boys and I'm exhausted and I miss my friends." I rambled on to him, not hearing a sigh of annoyance or disapproval.

"Of course. You don't need to ask me, Kim." David's voice was sweet as he allowed my plan to become a success. "Has she still got you doing the mornings?." He continued, talking about how my mum was too lazy to look after her not so new born babies.
