After our little shopping spree of sexy outfits, cigarettes and lots of sweets; Steve dropped me off at Kathleen's house kindly and kept his promise to change. It had only been three hours since he made it, but if a male goes shopping with you and even waits inside of a lingerie shop for you, he's a man..not a boy.
I knocked loudly on Kathleen's front door and waited patiently for her to answer, biting the skin around my nails as I did.
"Ah, fuck." I hissed in pain, feeling the blood tricking down my finger as I ripped a large chunk of skin from besides my nail. "Shit." I swore to myself as Kathleen's front door opened. I looked up and saw her still in her pyjamas.
"Kim?" She asked with a confused expression, rubbing one of her eyes as her other hand held onto the door firmly. "It's only 12..what are you doing here?" She asked but opened her door wider for me to enter.
"I went shopping and bought you some things." I held a bag up in the air as she closed her front door.
"Who is it, Kathy?!" Shanae bellowed from the lounge.
"Kimberly!" She called back, slouching past me towards the sound of her mothers voice. I followed behind her and walked in on her mum and dad wrapping presents on the living room floor.
I may have forgotten to mention it's Kathleen's birthday tomorrow.
"Hello, Kim! It's lovely to see you again, darling." Kathleen's father, Duante, greeted me as I stood in the doorway.
"Hi again!" I smiled at her parents, watching Kathleen roll her eyes and make her way into her kitchen for a cup of coffee.
"Kimmy, do you want some?" She asked as she poured the steaming hot water into a large mug with her name engraved into it.
"No, I'm okay, thanks." I declined. "So..is anything exciting happening tonight?" I asked, referring to a party of some kind to celebrate her turning 18.
She scoffed at the idea. "Not a chance." Her eyes met mine as she picked up the coffee and swallowed some. "I don't need a bunch of immature, drunken jocks in my house smashing my ma-ma's ashes, Thankyou." She mocked, making me remember the events of my birthday.
"You know, it's such a shame you forced me to my own party thinking I wouldn't do the same for you." I held a smirk on my face as a frown appeared on hers.
"No you didn't." She muttered in disbelief. "Please tell me you're joking.." her mouth opened slightly, genuinely upset by my plans.
"Uh..maybe." I pulled my face at her, feeling incredibly uncomfortable by the look on hers.
She threw her head back and groaned in frustration. "I hate you, but because I did it to you, you get a free pass." She agreed to the party, making me squeal and clap my hands together, running around her kitchen table and embracing her into a tight hug.
"You're going to love it! I promise." I kissed her face and let go of her.
"In exchange, can I at least see what you got for me?" She asked, trying to do puppy dog eyes but ended up squinting instead because she was as blind as a bat without her glasses. I smirked and nodded, walking over to the front door where I left her bag of presents.
"There's one in there you probably shouldn't open in front of your parents.." I whispered skeptically, tapping my finger nails on the table top.
"You have no filter." She snorted, pulling everything out except the red body suit I picked out for her along with mine. "You didn't!?" She squealed, pulling out a small chain with our names engraved on it. Her bottom lip quivered as the tears threatened to spill from her sockets.
