I knew I shouldn't have done it. I knew I shouldn't have said the words I didn't mean, I shouldn't have raised my fist to her or connected it with her skin, I shouldn't have religiously abused my power of getting to speak to her and I definitely shouldn't have turned up to her work to try and sort things out.

These were key factors in why Kim had grown to despise me, but I just couldn't help myself. I needed everything she had, as if she was a poison I couldn't get enough of. A poison so deadly that not even anything immune to it could survive a drop.

So, as I pulled up to the local pool and walked through the gate, treading by a few smaller children, I contemplated turning back around and leaving her be, but it was already too late for that.

My shoulder collided with another's as I looked around at my surroundings. I whipped my head back north and saw Steve with a sort of angry look on his face. He sighed and shoved my shoulder, an indication to turn around and leave with him.

"What is your problem, man?" Steve asked me in a frustrated grunt as we stood outside the facility. I just wanted to see her, speak to her and tell her that she was all I needed in this sad and pathetic life that had been forced into my hand, but I couldn't even seem to do that correctly.

"I just want to see her, Steve. I didn't mean what I said and did. I didn't." I told him, desolation lacing from my tone.

"Yeah, they all say that." Steve scoffed at my answer. "But it's always a lie, because if that were true you wouldn't be here trying to see her, or following us around trying to make her see you love her. You lied to her , Eddie. You said some pretty nasty shit back there and all because of what?. Because of Billy fucking Hargrove?." Steve scoffed and stepped closer to me. "Listen, man. I get that you're hurting, I do. But, you're also hurting her by not letting her go. You're giving her mixed signals by following her around and profoundly trying to convince her that you love her-" I cut him off at those very words. That very lie.

"I would fucking kill for her, Steve. I would hunt somebody to the ends of the earth if she fucking asked me too because she deserves happiness and she deserves to know the lengths somebody would go for her." I stepped into the gap between us with my shoulders up. "That girl is the only thing I live for, the only reason I stand here in front of your punk ass because there's not a thing in this world I wouldn't do for her, just to be with her and see that smile on her face every day." The tension in the air increased as I spoke. We may have been friends, but when it came to Kim, we were rivals.

"Anything?" He asked, placing his hands on his hips.

"Anything, Steve." I told him with a sigh, hoping he now understood.

"Then let her go." He hissed at me, shoving my shoulder with his fingers and scoffing as he turned from me and walked away.

"Please." I called back to him, stopping in his tracks to listen to what I had to say. "I just want to see her." I pleaded with him, the misery in my heart pouring from my mouth.

"She doesn't want to see you anymore Eddie. It's time you let her go." Steve twisted his body back towards me as he told me the words i never wanted to hear.

"How do you know?." I asked him, moving closer to him once again. "How do you know what she wants. Did she say the words to you Steve?. Did she tell you that she wanted nothing to do with me?. That she didn't want me to try and make things better?." I interrogated him with my questions, now practically in his face.
