I think I'm going to get him a dog.

The next morning, 11am

You and Hank were currently having some food at Chicken Feed, both of you being starving before your lunch hour. You knew that if Nines was around he'd have something to say about the meal, which is exactly why Hank had suggested it while he wasn't around.

"How was Blue eyes this morning?" Hank asked after finishing his mouthful, glancing up at him you noticed how tired he truly looked at the moment.

"He gave me sad puppy eyes as I left, made me feel like shit." You admitted thinking about the sad look he had given you the moment you opened the door to leave.

"In his defence he is used to being around you at all times." Hank said as you took another bite of your greasy burger.

"I know." You mumbled through your mouthful of food, which Nines would have scolded you for.

Everything in life just brought thoughts of him to mind, the little things from what you ate and how you behaved.

"He'll be back in no time..." Hank sighed as he took a lazy bite from his burger.

There was however a burning question you wanted to ask Hank, but you weren't sure if it was a good idea to ask. You and Nines were basically fine now, but were Hank and Connor?

"You're staring at me like you wanna ask me something." Hank pointed out making you snap your eyes away from him.

"I- Yeah. I was just going to ask how everything is with Connor." You fessed up pretty quickly, there was no point in lying to Hank.

Hank let out a sigh and stared down at his food, you felt bad for asking now, "We argued most the night again. Was my fault, but I don't care."

"How was it your fault?" You questioned, it would explain why Hank looked so exhausted right now if he was arguing with Connor for so long.

"I mentioned Blue eyes and that just set him off. I was trying to be civil with him, but he makes that really hard." Hank explained briefly, he clearly didn't want to go into any details so you chose to drop it.

"I get what you mean." You said as the two of you went back to eating, you'd unintentionally made the conversation awkward now.

You needed to find something else to talk about to restore the conversation. That's when your insane idea that you'd had on the way to work popped into your head. Maybe Hank would be able to help with it.

"So, I've been thinking about Nines."

"I would hope so, he's your boyfriend right?" Hank snorted as he raised an eyebrow in confusion at you.

"Obviously... I didn't mean like that... just- I think I'm going to get him a dog." You told Hank whose mouth opened in slight shock before he regained his composure.

"Why?"

"Because he loves Sumo and he's asked for one before." You explained as Hank nodded his slowly, his mind clearly working behind those tired eyes of his.

"When you doing that?" Hank asked as he picked his drink up and slurped at it.

"No idea. I'm not even sure where to start. Do I take him to see some or prepare for one first?" You asked no one in particular as you let out a huff.

"Look at dogs first." Hank told you.

"You sure?"

"Yeah, he might look at some and realise he doesn't actually want one. It's an insane idea anyway." Hank mumbled as he sucked in a loud breath.
