Mateo POV:
I wake up, cuddled close in Dom's embrace. I shift so I'm facing him. He sighs in his sleep, his face calm. I snuggle closer and hug him, loving how good I feel this morning. Dom stirs and sighs tiredly, his sleepy blue eyes opening to see me.
Mateo: "Hi."
Dom: "Hi."
I love his morning voice. It's so deep...
I sigh happily, staring up at him with a smile.
Dom: "You seem to be in a good mood."
Mateo: "I am! I don't know why."
Dom: "Maybe you don't need a reason why. I'm happy that you are."
I nod and close my eyes as he gently rubs my hip.
The day is spent with me making much more progress with my walking. Dom goes to my ranch and brings some clothes to change into for my discharge tomorrow. He'll have to help me with my physical therapy, washing, and such at home, but... I don't feel nearly as upset about it as I could.
That may change once I go home, but hopefully, my ego and stubbornness don't get in the way. I tend to be pretty prideful of being capable of caring for myself, so now that I need assistance, I can't afford to let that pride get in my way.
Dom spends the night again, and we wake to my nurse helping me get ready for my last physical therapy session with her.
After spending so long in the hospital, I'm excited to leave and return to my ranch. I'm wheeled out of the hospital with Chimalma and Ollin in my arms and dressed in comfy sweatpants and a T-shirt.
Dom helps me with the nurse into the passenger seat of his car. My truck would have been too difficult to get into. I thank my nurse and wave to her as Dom gets in the front. Once he's in, Dom drives me home.
I'm pleasantly surprised to see my mariachi waiting for me out front of the ranch. They play uplifting music, making me smile. Dom sets up my wheelchair and wheels me to the front of the ranch so I can see my band.
I get to talk and socialize for a bit before Dom helps me inside. I'm met with my ranch hands, who apologize multiple times for not being on hand during the accident. Apparently, they had received calls from a voice they assumed to be from me informing them not to come to work and to have some time off.
I think I can safely say that was the doing of the Evil Dom. Luckily, everyone is back to work, making me feel immensely relieved. By time for bed, everyone is home, and Dom has to get creative with helping me up the stairs.
Dom: "Can I carry you?"
Mateo: "Hmm, that could be fun."
I hold my arms up, yet laugh as he picks me up princess-style.
Dom: "Príncipe style for my little prince."
I smile happily as he carries me up the stairs and walks me to my bedroom. He sets me down gently with a smile and a kiss before going downstairs and grabbing my walker and wheelchair.
So, soon, I can ditch the wheelchair, then the walker, before I get to move onto a cane. It makes me sound old, but it's nice that I'll be able to track my progress with each step in my walking journey.
My smile fades as Dom finishes bringing up my walker.
Dom: "Alright! I need a shower. Would you mind if I borrowed yours? Then I can help you get clean!"
Mateo: "My shower is yours."
Dom: "Thank you. Will you be alright here?"
I nod as he hands me my phone. He leaves for the bathroom, letting me have time to myself. I scroll on my phone, seeing news that Carlos's show's new pilot episode will premier on Monday. I can't wait to watch it!
