Kid Ritz POV:
I take a deep breath as Ven fixes my dress shirt for me. I accidentally unbuttoned it while taking my jacket off so I could eat. Once the buttons are fixed, we relax quietly while listening to the soft music around us.
This wedding has been super fun, but I'm pretty tired now. Eventually, it's time for us to leave. I hug everyone tightly, ensure Mateo and Dom have what they need to be packed up, and then walk with Ven to his white car.
He offers to drive, yet I have something else in mind. I take the front seat and drive us home. I know he's tired, yet I ask him to get dressed in comfy clothes. He gives me a confused look, yet obliges. I get changed, put Jewels in her harness, grab OJ and Quesadilla, and wait in the living room. Once Ven's changed, I walk us back down to the valet and car.
I drive us quietly to the skate park. What Ven doesn't know is that I had this planned ahead of time. To the edge of the skate park is a small park with grass. It's not big by any means, yet it is quiet and comfortable to lay out some blankets and look at the stars.
That is precisely what I do. I lay out the blanket I brought, then add the two pillows I put in the trunk earlier, along with the stuffies. Ven smiles and lays down with Jewels as I finish getting things situated. Once I'm done, I sit next to Ven and lean back on my hands. He hugs Jewels to him, then lays his head on my lap.
The stars look beautiful out here, and the skate park is beautiful and serene at night, especially when no one else is here. I stare quietly as I rub the soft fur of Quesadilla's wing between my fingers.
Kid Ritz: "I figured since we were already out late, this little excursion wouldn't hurt."
Ven: "It's quite nice. I really like how bright and clear the sky is tonight. You can see so many stars."
His voice trails at the end... then he starts laughing. I look down at him, a bit confused. I love the sound of his voice; it's one of my favorite things to hear. It's just a little confusing as to why he's laughing. Did I say something? Even Jewels looks at him, confused, as he rolls around a little.
Ven: "Sorry! Sorry. It's just... speaking of the stars; I remembered something I used to think about when Velvet and I were first starting out. The only thing she was focused on was becoming a star. Slowly, I began to want that for myself as well. We wanted to become stars... and we weren't going to let anything get in our way or stop us."
His eyes shimmer as he stares up.
Ven: "But... that was so long ago. I don't feel that way anymore. I don't strive for that commercial success... because I have everything I could ever want right here."
His words touch my heart as he meets my eyes. I know he's being deep right now, but he truly looks sensational. His glimmering blue eyes, perfectly manicured mullet, and white smile—he's gorgeous. My stunning husband meets my eyes with a small smile, the look of love making my heart flutter, as if I've fallen for him all over again.
I pull my beanie down a little as I admire him in my hoodie. This was always Mama's favorite outfit of mine; it's cute to see him in it. It's cute to just see him—the light of my life.
Ven: "I'm happy living life with you. Whatever we do, I know I don't have to feel like I'm scrambling to make something out of myself. That pressure no longer being in my life... I don't have words for how relieved that makes me feel."
He goes quiet as I think of something to say that matches the love and gratitude I'm feeling for him.
