Mateo POV:

My heart pounds as Midori drives me to the physical therapy studio. I haven't told Dom this, but since he's been at his rehearsals or shows with his brothers, I've been going to extra rounds of physical therapy to try to regain my mobility in its entirety so that I can surprise him at the wedding.

It has not been easy, and I'm often left feeling exhausted. But, slowly, I've gotten better this month leading up to the wedding. Today is my last appointment before the wedding, so I am eager to do the best I can while in session.

Midori pulls up to the studio and watches as I slowly get out of the car by myself. I walk all the way to the door without my cane, only using it once I feel tired enough. Midori helps me check-in and then waves as I am brought to the studio room.

My physical therapist and I talk in Spanish while she helps me do my exercises, and then we get to the meat and bones of the therapy. I use different machines to strengthen my muscles, and I'm left incredibly tired after each one. My therapist cheers me on for my last three reps... and I'm done. I sit down on the bench near me, tired from the lunges I had been doing.

Therapist: "You did it! Great job!"

Her positive words make me smile as she hands me my water bottle. I take a few sips, then smile as she hands me my cane.

Therapist: "I will not see you until after the wedding, so I hope things go well for you!"

Mateo: "Thank you. I could not have gone this much progress without you."

My physical therapist hugs me and then helps me stand. She walks me back to the waiting room, where Midori is, and we wave goodbye before Midori walks me back to her car.

Midori: "How did it go?"

Mateo: "Very good. I feel ready."

Midori: "Oh, that makes me so glad to hear!"

We get into her car, and she drives back to the ranch. The wedding is in three days, so the pressure has definitely amped up. Today is the last day that, I guess, 'normal' non-wedding activities are concluded, such as Dom doing a show later tonight.

I asked if he'd have liked me to go, yet he said he did not feel I would enjoy it. I do want to see my fiance perform at least once, so I'm toying with the idea of showing up unexpectedly.

Mateo: "Midori?"

Midori: "Hmm?"

Mateo: "You know Dom has show tonight?"

Midori: "Oh, I didn't know!"

Mateo: "I... well."

She looks at me and then returns to the road with an encouraging smile.

Midori: "Yes?"

Mateo: "I want to see him. Would you go with me?"

Midori: "Aww! I'd love to go with you! Is there anyone else you'd like to invite? It'd be so fun just the two of us, so no pressure!"

Mateo: "Carlos."

Midori: "Great! I think he's a fun choice. Let's call him!"

She pulls out her phone and hands it to me to call Carlos as she turns onto the long road leading to the ranch. I dial Carlos's contact and wait until he picks up.

Carlos: "Hole, mi Reina."

Mateo: "Hola!"

Carlos: "Huh?"

Midori and I laugh as Carlos sounds surprised on the other end. He laughs as he realizes it's me.

Carlos: "I was so confused. I was in my mind, who was this man? Not Midori."
