The lights died out, almost immediately.
"What's going on?" WHO'S voice demanded from the ward. She teleported in front of them. "I have patients who-"
"It wasn't us," FBI sounded puzzled, Russia could imagine him looking around for the source of the sound. It was disturbingly dark.
The Nightingale gave a tiny cheep and hid itself. A small, sky-blue light, emitted from UN's hand. It shone and lit up a sizable portion of the room.
"Hmm... interesting. Didn't realize we could have blackouts here," UN smiled, raising his hand. WHO looked worryingly around in her Clinic.
"The countries here are vulnerable," she fretted. "I need to go back and-"
Another bang. Just as loud as the first, echoed from seemingly the same area. The Storage room.
They all froze. Well, except for UN who was humming nonchalantly.
"Seems like we have an unexpected visitor," UN commented, moving the light to that direction. He flicked a finger and light shot out towards the Storage room before illuminating the interior. The shelves were untouched. Nothing was broken. The Detectors were still in place. No scorch marks to signify an explosion of any kind. Magic, then.
UN held his palm facing upward and soon something was floating out of the room. Russia watched as a black feather, ragged but sharp, land in UN's hand.
FBI had an expression of apprehension. "That's Third's feather."
Russia remembered he'd seen one before. It was useless to mention it now.
"Then what were those sounds?" WHO looked to her ward, as if something horrible would happen if she wasn't in there. Before waiting for an answer, was already bustling in with a tray she picked up from the counter. She did not like leaving her patients for long.
"FBI, please stay here to supervise," UN said, then turned to Russia. "Let's go."
They left the Clinic.
"Russia, can you unravel your bandage on your right arm?" UN asked, without looking at him. He had his eyes on the Academy ahead of him and Russia really couldn't tell what he was thinking at the moment.
Mindlessly, he unwrapped his right arm and let the bandages rest in his other hand. The sight wasn't pretty.
There were still streaks of dried blood that looked like dark red rivers on his skin. Even thinner, though probably more concerning, were the black veins under his skin. He was staring at them, absolutely dumbfounded that his body was altered in this manner. And rightfully concerned that it happened.
The only fortunate thing was that it merely outlined the base of the formerly iced area and did not extend beyond the bandages. It had only been a day and it was this bad.
"You need to talk with Ukraine," UN finally said, after a while. He rolled up his sleeves a bit more, looking a bit more serious. "If she finds that you have her Nightingale, and especially with the bond broken, you will have a lot to answer to."
"What about Third?"
It was the first time since he'd spoken in a while."Leave him to us, for now. You need to talk with Ukraine," he repeated his prior instructions. "Clear up anything that can lead to misunderstanding."
...
Russia looked at UN. He wanted to ask if it was his fault that the war started. But he didn't.
.
.North Korea looked at China, "I'm starting to wonder if we should start looking for Russia. At this point, it's just getting ridiculous."
The Korean kicked a rock out of the way angrily, "If only America would shut his mouth for once, then maybe we can have some peace at least."
