It felt weird to be a ruler.
Sure, she wouldnt trade anything for it, the land was full of promise and ready to flourish, the people determined and tribes set on making Hyrule a reality, but she still couldnt wrap her head around it.

Yet, in the midsts of all the wonders of being in the first lines of the birth of a kingdom, the most intriguing part remained Rauru.
How could a being with immense power and knowledge, and maybe even a touch of the goddes herself, be so kind and compassionate, humble when faced with the mortality of this world? And even more so, how could he fall for and wed a simple Hylian like herself?

Questions lingered Y/n's every moment, even now, in the tranquillity of their quarters within the pearly white palace, sitting by the vanity, staring into her own eyes to seek the answers, hoping to get a glimpse into the turths that lay hidden deep inside her mind.

But she was shaken out of her daze when the stone doors were opened and closed, the jingling of precious jewels and the rustle of loose fabrics a telltale sign of Rauru's return.

The Zonai let out a sigh, his head low and ears drooping slightly from the weight of a long day between his duties as he walked towards Y/n's sat form.

"Dearest, you should be getting ready to rest, the sun is low in the sky already," he said softly, clawed hands settling on her shoulders, fingers tracing the line of her collarbones with soothing rubs.

Looking up at him, resting their hands on top of his, Y/n smiled, "I just wanted to wait for you, i need to check if you would be going to bed" she chuckled, reprimanding him, "you've been neglecting sleep again, love," she added, thumbs brushing over his knuckles.

Rauru could only let out another sigh, his eyes closing for a brief moment, "there is a lot to be done, you know that," he said, moving away to sit on the edge of the bed, "the Gerudo...they're dead set on never giving up their indipendence. They can't even think about the possibilities. A whole new trading system, the strenght of the other regions for aid in case of need..." he rubbed his face, elbows settling on his knees, "But the real problem is their leader. Ganondorf is a tough nut to crack".

Y/n looked at him through the mirror, "for what we know, they've been an indipendent tribe through all their history, change is difficult, especially for those who never experienced it" she said, rising up from the stool to stand in front of Rauru's sitting form, "the people need time to adjust, too. You can't be rushing into things just because you see potential benefit".

Rauru hesitated before letting out a breathy chuckle, shaking his head, "see, that's why i need you in my life," he said, before looking up, "you keep me down to earth, and that's what a true king needs" he smiled, reaching out to take her hand into his, and taking it up to his lips to place multiple kisses on each knuckle.

"I'm just stating the obvious," Y/n shook her head, rolling their eyes slightly, but Rauru cocked an eyebrow, "You constantly undermine yourself, my dear," he said, his tone getting more somber as he saw the way Y/n looked off to the side.
He reached up to tilt her head forwards to meet his gaze, his tone questioning as he spoke "you are just as capable of a ruler as I am, or you wouldnt be at my side", he began, "you cannot be possibly doubting that, right?".

Y/n was left stunned. Of course he would notice. He noticed everything, the good and the bad, no matter how hard anyone tried to hide things from him.

Her hand reached up to hold the Secret Stone dangling from her necklace, voice low and unsure as she tried to express her thoughts, "it's just...sometimes i feel like i can never live up to what you are bringing to this land. You do everything, you have the knowledge, the power, the charm to unite people and make whatever you set your mind to into reality..." Y/n looked down, "I can't understand what you saw in me to make me your queen", she confessed, hand clutching tightly at the powerful artifact within her hold.

Rauru was left speechless, his mouth slightly agape as he registered her words.

He stood up, his full height towering ofer that of his spouse, his hands moving up to cup her cheeks, forcing her to look him in the eyes.

"You don't get to talk about my wife like that. She is the most quick-witted person, full of insights and always ready to act despite the circumstances. She is more than fit to be queen, and more than deserving of my love" he said, his voice holding a tinge of hurt and desperation, "so stop thinking that and trust my judgment. You said it yourself, i do have the knowledge after all," he gave a soft chuckle, his eyes softening as he leaned in to press his forhead against hers.

Struggling to hold back tears, Y/n wrapped her arms around him, fingers splayed in his long, white and golden hair, eyes closing for a brief moment as they whispered sweet nothings to each other, Rauru's hands moving down to her waist, tracing the patterns of her clothing and the rough jewels adoring her frame much like his own.

Y/n held in a yelp when the Zonai lifted her up, setting her on the edge of the bed before kneeling in front of her, "Y/n, my dearest, let me show you just how much you mean to me, body and soul" he said, voice breathy as he lifted her ankle and began trailing kisses up her leg, letting the soft, deep-green and white fabrics flow away from her limbs.

The Hylian flushed a deep red, eyes widening at the sudden intimacy, the gentleness of his touch a contrast with the prickly sensation og his fur against her skin, "R-Rauru...?" she blinked, bashful.

His eyes met hers, one hand behind her knee and the other rubbing soothing circles on her hip, "yes, my love? Is this too much?" He said, a hint of teasing in his smooth voice as he stood up and towered over her, his hands moving on either side of her head, brushing away the wild strands of her hair before he dipped his head in the crook of her neck, kissing the soft column of her throat and behind her pointy ears, smirking at the soft sounds escaping the hylian's lips.

Y/n could only wrap her arms around his neck, holding him close, "it's not nearly enough" she breathed out, hands moving to tease his furry ears, her skin prickling with goosebumbs at the breathy moan that came from the Zonai, straight into her ear.

"You are my sole weakness, Y/n," he breathed out, hands roaming her body with reverence, "when i'm with you, it's like i was never even a god to begin with. You bring out the humanity in me, my sweetest," he said, voice low and husky as his head dipped lower, nuzzing into her sternum, teasing the sides of her chest with gentle rubs of his thumbs.

"And by the goddes, am i glad you can do this to me," he chuckled, looking up at her, his eyes crackling with newfound lust, his intentions clearer than the moon that was beginning to rise from the horizon.
