~Valerie's POV~

After dinner was over I went upstairs to go use the bathroom and when I came back, Sammi was walking down the hall. "Yo Sammi!" I yelled down the hall to her.

She laughed and made her way towards me, "You are to funny! Why do you do that?" She asked laughing

"Because it's fun and it makes me feel like I'm in the 1970s in Brooklyn."

"You've been the only one that ever made me feel welcomed." She said putting on a weak smile

"Sammi what are you talking about, everyone here likes you."

"Not everyone." She said sadly

"Why don't we go in my room and talk." I put a comforting arm around her as we walked to my room. I shut the door and she sat on the vanity chair while I sat on the floor with my legs crossed.

"Why are you sitting on the floor? You can sit on your bed."

"I don't want to sit on the bed, I've always liked sitting on the floor anyways." I said shrugging my shoulders.

"So tell me about what's going on, why do you feel unwelcomed?"

"Well I just... I don't know how to say this.."

"Just come out and say it."

"But you might hate me or never speak to me again."

"Sammi whatever it is, you can tell me. If it makes you feel better, I promise to not get upset."

She took a deep breath and came and sat next to me on the floor, "It's Nathan.."

"What about him?"

"He doesn't like me, every time I try and talk to him he acts like I don't exist. He ignores me and he always gives me a dirty look."

"That's Nathan being Nathan, I know he is rough around the edges but that's just how he is. I'm sure he doesn't mean anything by it." I said reassuring her

"I'm telling you, he hates me. He scares me and I only feel safe is when Kevin's around, or if you're here, but when I'm by myself I pretend I'm not home, so I don't have to answer the door."

"Have you told dad?"

"No, what am I going to tell him? Your son scares me and he hates my guts. Oh yeah, that will go over well."

"Just tell them I'll be there in ten minutes, yeah I'll call you back." Nathan came in the room, in his usual style of barging in and never knocking.

"Sorry I didn't know anyone was in here and why are y'all on the floor?" He asked getting his shirt from the bed and putting it on.

"We think the floor is more comfortable, and it gives us a new perspective on life."

He looked at me weirdly, "New perspective on life? And what perspective is that?"

I looked at Sammi for help, but she just shook her head. I looked back at Nathan and he raised his eyebrow and waved his hand for me to continue, "Uh, from a ground perspective."

"If I didn't know any better, I'd say that you're lying." He said with a challenging look. Sammi squirmed to get it.

"I think I'll go now, talk you later Val." She said avoided eye contact with Nathan

"Gee, thanks for the help Sammi. I know I can always count on you." I said to her as she was leaving the room.

Nathan sat in the chair in front of me and put elbows on his knees, "Okay what's really going on?"

"Nothing, we just was having a conversation."

"About what?"

"Personal stuff! Plus I've been sworn to secrecy."

He scoffed, "Yeah okay, sworn to secrecy. But I would like to know one thing."

"What's that?"

"When were you gonna tell me that you had a boyfriend."

I groaned and put my head back on the side of the bed, "Who told you?!" I whined

"So it is true? Who's this guy? And how long have you been seeing him?"

"Ugh! I've known him for a month now, but you can't know who it is."

"I found out this much, it shouldn't be to hard to find out who this guy is."

"How did you find out? Who told you?"

"I have my ways, plus it comes with the territory." He smirked while standing up

"And that's exactly why I didn't say anything to anyone. This will be one relationship that you won't scare him off."

"You wanna bet?"

"No Nathan.." I said dryly

"Why because I can find out who it is in five minutes?" He said amused

"You're a butt wipe." I said looking away from him

"Now now, don't be like that."

"Don't you have somewhere to be? Like not here."

"Yes I do need to go, but I still love you Valerie." He said smiling

I put my head down on my knees, "Go away Nathan."

He chuckled and patted me on the head, "I'll see you later, and try not to fall down anymore." My door was closed and I still had my head down. I finally picked it up and got off the floor and put my flip flops on, put my phone in my pocket, and grabbed my car keys and the leash.

I went downstairs looking for Charlotte and she was following dad around in the living room. "Come on Charlotte" l called to her, she came to me and I hooked the leash on her collar.

"Are you leaving already?" Dad asked

"Yea, I should be heading home now. I'm getting sleepy."

He sighed, "Alright, goodnight princess and drive safe." He gave me a hug and a kiss on top of my head

"Bye dad, I'll see you later." I walked towards the door and Sammi peeped around the corner.

"You can come out now, Nathan the Dictator is gone." She smiled and came over to me and gave me a hug.

"I'm gonna miss you, I wish you lived closer."

"Me too, I live out the way of everyone, so I'm used to being the lone wolf. Call me if you need anything." She bent down and picked up Charlotte,

"I'm gonna miss you too, don't forget to comeback and see me." She put Charlotte back down and smiled.

"Don't be so sad, I'll actually be back tomorrow. I have to go to Orlando and run some errands so do you think you could watch Charlotte for me?"

"Of course, when Kevin's gone I'm usually bored, so keeping her will give me something to do."

"Alright so I'll see you tomorrow at around, 11:30?"

"11:30 it is. See you tomorrow!" She said excitedly
