87. Scared

~Valerie's POV~

It was a regular night as usual, I'm fixing the kids dinner and Ryan is late tonight. It's not like him to be this late unless he tells me before he leaves for work that he's going to be late.

We start to eat dinner anyways and maybe he's running a few minutes late tonight. My phone rings and it's Ryan calling me

"Hey I was getting a little worried." I said answering the phone

"Sorry I didn't call sooner but I wanted to tell you if you haven't already started eating, go ahead and eat because we're gonna have a movie night."

"Ok, we're eating now so by the time you get here we'll be done. What movie are we gonna watch?"

"It's a surprise, I think you're really gonna like it."

"Oh I can't wait for you to get here." I said excitingly

"It won't be long, I promise."

"Alright see you when you get here." I hung up the phone and the both of them was staring at me

"Was that daddy?" Lilly asked

"Yes and he'll be here shortly. He's got a movie for us to watch when he gets here."

"Oh yay! I get to stay up late!" Jeremiah said

"Yeah yeah, just finish your food." I said

The both of them quickly ate their food and was jumping around with joy for Ryan to show up

"Did he say when he was coming?" Lilly asked

"All he said was he'll be here soon."

"But how soon?"

"What movie are we watching?"

"You two calm down, I don't know what movie it is and hopefully it will not be long before he gets here." I said putting the dishes in the dishwasher, "In the meantime, why don't we all take a load off and just chill on the coach until he arrives." I said sitting down and the both of them sat on each side of me

"I hope it's a Disney movie." Lilly said

"No, an Ironman movie." Jeremiah said happily and I smiled at the two as they went back and forth about what type of movie it could be

Suddenly all the lights and power went out in the house. Everything became still and quiet as nothing was on in the house. Lilly clutched my shirt and scooted closer, "Mommy, why is everything off?" She asked

"I don't know sweetie, probably the power jumped off." I went to get up to go find the fuse box when I heard a heavy noise coming from the kitchen way

"Did y'all hear that?" I whispered to the kids

They nodded their heads as I could see them a little bit better because of the small light that's coming from the curtains. I reached out my hands to them and I tipped into the kitchen quietly and didn't see anything. I found a flash light in the cabinet and I handed it to Jeremiah.

He turned it on and we made our way over to the staircase and down the hall to find the fuse box. I was flipping every switch and nothing seemed to happen. I kept doing this until I heard something fall and heavy footsteps. Immediately thinking someone's in the house, I ushered the kids in their rooms and locked the door.

I went to get my phone from my pocket to call Ryan but I left it on the table. Mentally face palming myself, I eased down the stairs and went into the kitchen for my phone. I saw it and I quickly started dialing, it went straight to voicemail and I wanted to angrily throw the phone but as I turned around a huge figure was standing behind me dressed in all black with a mask on.
