I entered my room and took my dress off, searching my closet for a nightgown. None were left except one that was a gift from the Nakamura family, which was almost as extravagant as their usual dresses.

I put the nightgown on and brushed through my hair, pushing it up into a bun. I washed my face with warm water and stared at my reflection for a moment, letting everything sink in.

I'm getting married to a man I don't love.

I'm going to have children with a man who I don't love.

I dried my face off and stared at the floor as I walked back to my bed, trying not to shed anymore tears over the matter. On the bed sat Kurapika's most recent novel with a bookmark in it.

I should bring this to him, I mean, what if he wants to read tonight but doesn't want to wake me?

... Plus I could use a distraction.

I grabbed the book and quietly exited my room, tip-toeing down the hall and to the large door of my hunter's room. I knocked on it softly, hoping not to wake him if he was already asleep. I heard a muffled "Come in." so I opened the door and slowly walked into the room.
