"jason, you know that's not true," you told him, standing outside of reefer rick's house, trying to buy eddie some more time to escape. you would meet up with him soon, he just needed to get across lover's lake and you'd meet him on the shoreline over there. "come on, why the hell would i lie about this? given our history?"

"______, move out of the way," he slyly growled back, a low tone of anger in his voice. "we have no history."

"do you really not remember?" you asked, furrowing your brows as confusion threaded through them. he took a moment to think about it, staring back at you. your hair tied up messily, wearing an oversized tee shirt you had found at the house over a pair of your jeans and dirty high top vans. your eyes were staring back at him, expectant as he let out a small sigh.

"i could never forget you," he replied, his hand reaching out for yours as he took it. you wanted to hesitate, you wanted to shrink away from him and go running back into the safety of eddie's arms, but you had to be strong for him. you needed to achieve this one thing for the plan to work.

"then how come you did?" you asked softly, trying to mask the fear and shake in your voice.

he brushed some loose hair away from your face, smiling down at you as he kept you close. your hands were still intertwined together as he stared back at you in admiration. you could feel your heart thumping loudly in your chest as your mind kept flashing back to eddie, praying he made it across lover's lake.

he had too.

"i promise you i didn't," he replied softly. "i just wanted to keep those memories to myself," he replied. "i think everything with chrissy has made my mind a bit foggy."

you nodded, forcing a smile up towards him.

"i bet. chrissy was such a good person," you lied. "i really miss her."

it wasn't truly a lie, but you didn't believe yourself. if you didn't believe yourself, did he? you were hoping he did. he had to. you had to succeed. for eddie.

"yeah," he responded, still staring down at you as his hand slowly ran up your arm and to your waist as he pulled you closer to him. this is what you needed. you were succeeding.

you smiled back at him, your hand slipping down into the pocket of his varsity jacket, feeling the keys of his car as you slid them out ever so quietly.

"we could've really been something great, _______," jason mumbled, nearing closer to your lips and you knew what was about to happen. you took the time to hit his gut, making him bend over in reaction as you shoved him off of you, keys in hand as you ran off to his car.

you got in quickly, slamming the door and starting it, peeling out of the driveway, or what you would consider a driveway, of the quiet home and to the location you needed to get to.

to eddie.

the woods at this hour were loud in your ears, dead silent with a few animal noises to be heard, but overall- quiet.

you watched your step carefully, shivering slightly from everything that happened and the cold. you had forgotten your jacket in the boat shed where eddie was hiding out.

"shit," you mumbled, your flashlight shining throughout the trees as you searched for skull rock. your next meeting spot. you had abandoned jason's car a while back, having to walk a few miles but you didn't want anybody to be suspicious.

the sounds of your shoes crunching sticks and leaves were the only thing you could hear besides the sounds of crickets, frogs, and toads. you found skull rock, turning around to look behind you when you heard a noise. your flashlight aimed at a deer, causing you a sigh of relief.
