"wait, wait, wait, why do you think that i would know anything?" you asked the police officer, wondering how you had managed to get caught up in everything going on. one minute, you had been with the entire group. the next, you were out in a boat before trying to jump out of it but the cops had snatched you up from the water.

dustin, lucas, and max had also been found with you and brought in. you were soaking wet as you stood in on the hardwood in the corner of the room, the police officers taking you upstairs to question you.

"what were you four doing out on lovers lake?" he asked once more. you avoided eye contact with both of them, trying not to even think about it. you had to block out the fact that eddie was with you all, that was the important part.

"dustin already told you. it was just a dare, that's why i'm soaking wet," you muttered, crossing your arms over your chest. your eyes were wandering around a random part of the walls in the wheeler's home.

"why would he dare you to swim in a lake where somebody was murdered?" officer callahan asked you. you shrugged.

"they're quite literally children and you're asking the eighteen year old of the group why kids decided to take me someplace creepy?" you asked, looking at them before hearing commotion downstairs. the two officers got up, callahan standing in the doorway of the room as officer powell headed downstairs.

you took this moment to silently look around, observing where you could sneak out easily. your eyes landed on the bathroom, taking notice of the small window at the top of the room that lead out to their backyard. you cleared your throat, getting his attention once more.

"can i at least go to the bathroom while i'm waiting?" you asked as he nodded, opening the door fully to let you go outside and towards the restroom. as soon as you shut the door, you turned the lock and started climbing on the back of the toilet, getting to the window and unlocking it. you decided you could fit through it.

when you it unlocked, you lifted a leg through. sliding the other through, your fingers gripped the window sill as you looked to see how far down it was. not too far, but it wouldn't be a comfortable fall by any means either. taking note of a few bushes, you tried to swing and land in them.

"shit," you muttered, trying to hold in the pain as you noticed the cuts running up your legs. "why did they have to be sharp ass needle bushes," you mumbled, the blood running down your legs as you tried to get out of the bushes as best you could. preferrably, falling on the flat grass seemed like a better option but you had to go.

you needed to find eddie.

"shit, the kids," you said, suddenly reminding yourself that they were still inside. if you could get dustin's attention, you could get them all. so, you walked to different windows to search for where the least people were.

you knocked quietly on the window, getting the attention of lucas who walked over and opened it.

"what the hell are you doing out there?"

"trying to escape these cops, come on. get max, dustin, and erica and let's go."

he nodded, going off to find them as you looked out into the darkness of the neighborhood the wheeler's lived in. when you heard dustin's voice behind you, you turned around and smiled at the kids. your legs were stinging badly with the pain from the bushes and from falling.

"come on, we've got to get the bikes and then head off to find eddie," you told them.

"we actually know where they are, ______," dustin said, hopping out the window as he and lucas worked together to shut the window as quietly as possible.
