author's note: this chapter is shorter than usual, but it's okay :)

"i thought you were the sane one," you muttered, walking backwards away from him, tripping over your own shoelace as he shook his head, his eyes looking intently into yours. "i thought, i thought that you-"
"that i what, ________?" he asked, cocking his head in confusion, a slight intimidating tactic as you kept walking backwards to get away from him before bumping into somebody and jumping, a slight scream escaping your mouth as you turned back around to see that nobody was there. when you turned around, nobody was there. you were confused, your head was pounding before you realized.
"eddie!" you called out into his trailer as you sat up against the headboard of his bed. he walked rushed back into the bedroom, looking at you in confusion. "where did you go?" you asked fearfully. "i thought you left me. i, i saw him. he was-" you began but eddie shook his head, walking over to you as he placed both of his hands on your shoulders, getting you to look at him.
"your dad is just a figment of your memories now, okay?" he reminded you as you nodded, closing your eyes before you reopened them.
"he's still there," you muttered.
eddie gently brushed some hair out of your face, his eyes admiring yours.
"your mom and you are safe from him now, okay? you're always going to be safe from him with me because it would take him ages to get to you," he reminded you. you nodded, letting out a shaky sigh as you stared back at him.
"can you come here?" you asked as he nodded, taking a seat next to you. you instantly bundled yourself up in his arms as he smiled to himself, holding back onto you. "you're not allowed to leave me the rest of the night," you muttered as he nodded, pressing a kiss to the top of your head.
"you've got a deal, sweetheart," he mumbled, keeping his arms tightly around you.
-
the next morning, you woke up to see that it was around nine thirty.
"shit," you said aloud, climbing off of eddie as he grumbled slightly out of sleep before readjusting his arm as you threw a pillow at him to wake him up.
"woah, hey, what the hell?" he asked, sitting up as you looked at him.
"we're late," you told him.
"so you hit me with a fucking pillow?" he questioned, climbing out of bed.
"you slept in the bed with your shoes on?" you asked, briefly looking at him as you searched for a shirt of his you could wear. "okay, i'm wearing this shirt, so if you wanted to, i'm sorry."
"you're really gonna wear that one, babe?" he asked, running his fingers through his hair as you nodded, raising your eyebrows at him.
"of course i am," you replied. "you'll have to pry it from my hands."
he smiled, rushing over and grabbing you up in his hold as you laughed. the nightmare with your dad had completely slipped from your mind now, it was only like he could haunt you at night. he never took your mind in the day, it was like he knew.
he set you back down, pulling you close to him as he pressed his lips to yours.
"mhm, okay, munson," you said letting go, smiling up at him. "we're already late, we have to go."
he shrugged, shaking his head afterwards.
"i'd much rather stay here with you all day," he replied as you smiled sweetly at him.
"as much as i would like to, you know we have to get to school. i can't miss another day," you told him. he sighed, pressing his lips to yours briefly once more before allowing you to get dressed.
"one day missed and you're making a big deal of it," he joked as you slid the t shirt over your body as you threw another pillow at him, smiling to yourself. "hey, hey! stop it," he said, holding up his arms as you laughed to yourself.
"alright, come on, pretty boy," you said, grabbing his hand as you pulled him close to you. "we have to get going to school."
he smiled at you, grabbing his keys from off the counter as he opened the door for you. you walked out into the cooler hawkins weather, heading towards his van as you climbed into the front passenger seat. eddie got into the drivers side of the van, starting the car as you looked over at him.
"do not try and kill us like that one time, okay, munson?" you said, your eyes observing his.
"why do you think i'd ever try to kill you, princess? you're my everything," he said, smiling at you jokingly as you punched him in the arm slightly.
"stop being so cheesy," you replied, smiling nonetheless.
"alright, miss perfect attendance, let's get you to where you need to go," he said, pulling out of the small plot of a parking spot to head the two of you to school.
