Scout regiment unit 13th September 844

"You have beautiful hair!" Theia grabbed her long braid after Isabel's honest words. "How come you're with the scouts and you have such long hair?" Isabel asked.

"I don't go on missions, so I can have them," she answered with a sweet smile.

"You're so strong and you don't go on missions?!" Isabel almost shouted. Theia tried to silence her with a gesture of her index finger on her lips.

"I always stay in the office. That's why," she tried to find a satisfying answer.

"I do not get it. They took us from the underground and the strong people stay in the office," Isabel muttered and stroked the horse's soft fur.

"Someone strong has to stay here to protect the base don't you think?" Isabel thinks about it and finally admitted that Theia was probably right.

"So, you're not coming with us..." she whispered to herself. Theia didn't miss it and bit her lip.

Isabel apparently gathering information too. "Do you think I will be as pretty as you when I'll got older?" Isabel broke the silence.

"What? I never thought of myself as pretty," Theia laughed.

"You're always so neat, but even I can't expect miracles since I'm from the underground..." Isabel muttered sadly under her breath.

"Hey. You are a beautiful girl. By the way, my mother was also from the underground, so it has nothing to do with it. Look at the two of us. We are quite similar. We have the same color of hair, eyes, skin, even the freckles on our cheeks,..." Theia stopped in her words. They were really quite similar. Too much.

"Your mom is from the underground?" Isabel asked her, not hiding the surprise. Theia closed her eyes. She started to be weak around those two, saying sometimes too much.

"Yes. She came from the underground just like you. She joined scouts,"

"Waaaaa... so that's why you have an understanding with us! That's wonderful! Could I see your mom?" Isabel blurted out excitedly.

"You couldn't..." Theia answered with a sad smile but in that moment Isabel's gaze turned cold. The reason was walking towards them as Erwin stopped just behind Theia's back.

"Theia, may I speak to you?" She heard her father's stern voice and so she immediately stood up to walk quickly towards him. She didn't miss the look full of hatred that Levi pierced them. She hardly noticed his presence in the last days. He was still training or sitting and frowning at everyone.

"Father, you and mom met each other in the underground, didn't you?" She asked him quietly so no one could hear them.

"Yes. Why are you interested all of a sudden?" he looked into his daughter's eyes.

"Could I see her record?"

"You know very well that you have access to all the records, but you won't find much in it," Erwin warned her.

During a routine meeting with the higher-ups of the scout unit, Theia found a record of her mother. She opened a thin folder that contained very little information. She only read her name, age, description of abilities, and date of death. Nothing she already doesn't know. She returned to a name she had never found interesting before. Her mother and father never married, so she did not use his last name. She ran her eyes over her father's handwriting. Kathlyn Magnolia. Her head started to spin. She knew the name sounded familiar.
