"Staria will find me," Richard whispered, trying to settle more comfortably on the stone floor.
"She can try," irritated Levi answered, watching Theia, who planned another tactic, surrounded by Sebastian, Hanje, Ilse, Lajha and treated Asher, who brought a scientist a short time ago from the place he was hiding him, along with the documents about drugs.
"She won't call you. You're just a slave good for the hard work," Richard laughed at Levi and leaned his head against the wall. Levi returned his sight to him, but didn't answer. He knew well where the truth was. Richard is a soldier and Theia is well aware of the fact. She doesn't know what to expect from him, so Levi is the one responsible for him, because she believes him the most. She believes in his strength, but that is something that the aristocrat as Marybell cannot understand. "I have one question," Levi closed his eyes, annoyed.
"If you don't close that fucking mouth of yours, I'll close it myself," Marrybell just smiled sarcastically.
"Did you tell her? That she will never find what she is looking for? How is she going to feel? Probably, she will abandon you," Levi was staring ahead without saying a single word. "But she is attached to you, bad luck. She'll have enough of you soon. Alike, I have enough of Staria. You are only good at fighting, but the bond is a pretty annoying thing. Don't you want to admit that she would be better without you? Without your obsession and toxic love that will kill her one day," toxic love. Ha? Marybell approached as close to Levi as chains allowed him. "You can't protect her from everything," Levi breathed after hearing the words that scared him the most. He returned to reality after he felt the touch on his shoulder. He turned his head and met a pair of warm, green eyes.
"For each stupidity that you tell, I'll cut you one finger," Theia hissed towards Marybell, who was still smiling.
"You all are going to be hanged, and he'll go first. For the murder of a high-ranking aristocrat," Richard said to Levi, while Theia shook her head with a smile.
"So I will disappoint you, because I am the one, who..." Levi stood up and turned to Theia's face. His angry expression stopped her from continuing with the idea. Her gaze slipped to his hand. "It is still bleeding," she reached for his forearm, but he moved his hand from her.
"I'm good,"
"Isn't he one ungrateful, little slave?" Marybell laughed and Levi turned his look away. Theia sincerely didn't expect this reaction. Usually, he can easily defend himself against not only physical but also verbal attacks. She pulled out a short dagger and waved it in front of Richard's nose.
"One more word, and I will give you the opportunity to choose your finger to say goodbye," she warned him and hid the dagger in her palm. "Sebastian, can I ask you?" She called her colleague who put an ax in front of him. "Please, don't let him out of your sight. It's just a matter of time when Staria and Zachary will find us. We leave in an hour," she explained, and he nodded. Meanwhile, she and Levi went to the side room that was used as a bathroom. Theia grabbed the first aid products from the cabinet and forced Levi to sit on a wooden trough, using for washing. She silently unbuttoned and rolled up his sleeve above the elbow. She poured alcohol into the wound and removed a small dirt that managed to get into the injury. She sparked a piece of fabric that she started to wrap his hand carefully. "Maybe it would be better to sew it, but I didn't see anything like a needle and thread here," he looked at her careful face.
"I'm okay. The boss like you shouldn't be bothered by someone like me," Theia raised her irritated eyes. Did he really mean something like that? She firmly attracted the ends of the fabric to create a bow while she forgot to confront him angrily because she could see a request for help in his eyes. She couldn't even know how he felt. He was so afraid he couldn't be by her side. After all, he didn't want another life anymore. Finally, one day, she will have enough of him. Like Kenny, who left him after he thought he could be his father. Or Furlan with Isabel. Everybody leaves him sooner or later, and he didn't know how much more he could bear. She gently stroked his treated hand and smiled. "Thank you," he whispered. Theia sat down on his knees and pulled his head which he put on her chest and closed her eyes.
