Somewhere among the walls Rose 23 June 7:35 year 850
After about two hours of walking through the forest, they came across a stream that flowed into a smaller lake. Theia stopped and knelt down to take the herbs out of her bag along with a clean cloth.
"Let's not stop unnecessarily," Levi warned her irritably.
"I have to clean and bandage your wound. If your infection spreads, you could lose that leg," Theia replied seriously, which made Levi nervous.
"I'm not going to lose my leg to a trivial injury," Theia threw the wet cloth against the stone and turned to him, pissed off.
"Didn't anyone really tell you anything about injuries and illnesses?" She looked at his surprised face. "Sit down!" She commanded him in a firm voice and he obeyed immediately. He sat next to the stream and once again let her clean his wound, which burned him immensely. Theia placed cooling herbs on it, which she carefully tucked between the stitches.
"I didn't think there were diseases on the surface that could also kill people like in the underground," he remarked in a low voice, to which Theia smiled.
"Don't worry, you're Ackerman, something like that won't kill you," she answered him, focused on her work.
"My mother was probably an Ackerman too and died of some disease," Theia suddenly stopped and looked up at him.
"Sorry. I didn't want to scare you or remind you of something painful," she sat down on a stone to bandage his wound when she noticed Levi, lost in his own thoughts. "Tell me about her. About your mother," Levi breathed, but for some unknown reason, he couldn't look her in the eye.
"My mother..." he began and instinctively grabbed the white cloth he still wore tied around his neck. Theia just sat silently and waited. "...she was a kind, caring and modest woman. She did what she could for us to survive. She died when I was nine. In Front my eyes. I was forced to watch the whole thing. How her breath slowed down, how she stopped moving, how her heart beats vanished. I slept next to her corpse and begged her not to leave me there alone," Theia bit her lips and tried her best to hold back the feeling of incredible sorrow, but she still continued to listen in silence. "I honestly loved her and I'm proud to be her son," he stroked the cloth under his neck and smiled. His smile was not sad, but reconciled with the past, which he won't change. Noticing the horrified Theia, he raised an eyebrow. He bent down to the stream, took some water in his palm, which he splashed in her face. She squealed in surprise.
"Hey!"
"Don't ask stupid questions when you act like you're at a funeral!" He bent down to the stream again.
"Don't even think about that!" She alerted him and jumped to her feet to grab his hand. But she slipped on the stone and fell on Levi, who fell into the pound with her.
"I can't believe I married such a moron!" He complained while wiping his face by his sleeve, but he heard Theia's pain hiss. He got serious and pulled her out of the water to look at her. "Are you hurt?" He asked carefully, but Theia threw water right in his face. He irritably ran his tongue over his front teeth as he heard her gleeful laugh.
"Who's moron right now?" She asked amused and stood up from the water. Levi looked up at her sharply and her smile fell from her face. "No..." she whispered and raised both hands to him. Levi carefully stood up.
"So you wanna play?"
"No, Levi. Stay where you are. Don't forget your injury!" Levi just smiled mischievously and ran to Theia, who was trying to escape, but she didn't have the slightest chance. He grabbed her hand and pulled her into his arms to flip her into the water. He sat on top of her to hold her both hands in place and leaned over her face, water dripping from his hair. They were both breathing loudly and quickly, looking into each other's eyes. Theia reached up to kiss Levi's cold, wet lips and he let go of her arms so he could hug her. He slid his tongue into her mouth and let her playful teeth bite him gently. He ran his hands over her wet clothes, exploring her body when she suddenly forced him off her. He completely flipped into the water again and she turned to him for a second to stick out her tongue and started jumping on stones further down the stream to a rock that served as a shelter and at the same time water fell from it, creating a smaller waterfall. She leaned against the rock and breathed deeply. Levi walked slowly towards her, clearly limping on one leg. He rolled up his sleeves and shook his head to get the water out of his hair. Theia watched his white clothes that were thoroughly soaked and his bare hands combing his hair back. She bit her lips.
