"Are you okay?" Ilse asked Theia in a quiet voice, but couldn't find her look that desperately counted the remaining comrades.
"Yes," she replied, too false. Ilse stroked her back.
"You can tell me everything, or nothing, it's up to you," Theia looked into her sincere eyes.
"I can't do this anymore. I am tired of all the enemies everywhere, I am tired of this rotten world, where I am forced to look at death and blood and lie to my loved ones and live in constant fear," she leaned her head to Ilse's shoulder and closed her eyes for a few seconds. "I never felt it before, but now, whenever I take the weapon in my hand, I'm afraid I will die. Look at Levi, wounds and injuries are all over his body. Only thanks to me! " Theia continued to talk to Ilse's jacket while she still stroked her hair.
"Are you listening to yourself? You put Levi in the first place, even in front of yourself, and you wonder why are you afraid? You were never afraid, because you had nothing to lose, but it changed now," Theia frowned after her words. "Every time I go through the gate to the expedition I'm afraid. That I will no longer see my parents, you, Lynn and Nanaba. But the same fear forces me to fight. Like you. You are fighting for higher goals," Theia pulled away from Ilse with a gentle smile.
"You're wrong. I am shitting on higher goals, but thank you for coming here," she had to admit, she felt better.
"Commandant's idea. He was hoping I could help you at least a little," Theia smiled at the memory of her father. "It has to be hard... to kill," Ilse scanned Theia's clothes which were soaked with blood.
"Do you think it is difficult to kill, um? Try to cure someone, that's hard. This requires patience. Whatever you can break into two seconds, but fix it, it takes time," Ilse turned in surprise to Theia, who walked just behind Levi and noticed her careful look at his injured back. Did she talk about him right now?
Theia passed the group, stopped and pulled out of the pocket a pretty destroyed map. She knelt to the ground and lit the map to see it properly. "We are here right now and here's Aldrik's old shelter, where Zachary's people are waiting for us," she showed it by her finger on the map. "There is a shaft covered by stones, and the only possible way is this," she drew her finger on the paper. "Every Staria's step is noted that she is a hunter. She is not allowing us to rest or think about the plan. She is tormenting us by attacks and fear, leading through her own paths as a prey," Theia noted, aware that Staria is leading them towards the mines they have recently revealed.
"So it's a trap," Sebastian blew smoke from his mouth and threw a cigarette to the ground to relieve Levi again from the heavy Richard's body.
"But there is a single way out. If the scientist doesn't get to the surface with the documents, everything will be useless," Theia breathed, and hid the map in the pocket again. She got up and continued with the whole group to underground darkness.
"Boss, a few meters and we'll be at Zachary's hiding place," said Lahja, who had the best information about the exact placement of all the underground shelters. "Maybe we'll finally free those poor children. Were they as old as I am? Lahja asked and Theia thought for a moment.
"I think yes. A few girls of your age were definitely there. You have to take care of new friends, "she pointed out, and Lahja smiled cheerfully.
"I will take care of everyone, just as you took care of me!" Theia stroked Lahja's blond hair and stopped in front of the big gate of bars, which was also a dead end. Richard smiled. Levi noticed it and breathed irritably.
"Theia, don't go there!" He stopped her in a serious voice, and she turned in confusion. "It's definitely a trap. I will go there instead of you," he added seriously, but their thoughts were interrupted by Marybell's laughter.
