Chapter XLV. Rage mode awakened

Eren left the nape of the attack titan, so Mikasa immediately freed him and jumped next to the small group of scouts. Theia and Levi switched to their ODM gear to get to the crosses where they attached the anchors. Levi freed Sebastian with his sword and Theia removed the blindfold from the weakened Asher.

"Theia, you shouldn't have come here, it's a trap," he whispered as Theia painfully pulled the long nails out of his hands.

"It's Ok. I think we surprised them enough first," she replied, pulling the nails out of his feet while holding Asher close to her body.

"You don't understand. Staria..." And then dozens of masked men jumped out of the flames and started shooting from automatic rifles into the area around the ships. Panic gripped the coast, and the refugees began to rush towards the ships, one over the other. But cannons stuck out from under the deck, which immediately returned fire, and the rest of the survey corps jumped from the ship to ensure a smooth evacuation. "You came here on a specialized forces attack ship?" Asher opened his mouth in disbelief. He couldn't believe that Pyxis and the government itself would allow such a thing.

"Asher," she addressed the surprised boy in a gentle voice. He lifted a pair of his light blue eyes to her to study her face. "You know I never do anything without plan A, B, C and if those don't work out, I move on to another one," he smiled. He knew that and had no plans to underestimate her any further. He placed a bloody hand on her back so she could carry him off the cross.

"I told myself that if I survived, I had to tell you something," he whispered as she held him in her arms and approached the ground where the scouts were helping the refugees aboard and shielding them from the fire. "Theia I really lo-..." he stopped and the words stuck in his throat, she turned her head towards him to hear him better, but he just silently watched as Levi put Sebastian on the ground and raised his sharp eyes to the sky. And then Asher lowered his eyes again. After all, he had no right to.

"You know, words are not so important. What's important is what you feel here," Theia touched her fingers to his racing chest. He bitterly realized his love will only remain in his mind and heart, but the fact that she led the survey corps here to save the two of them only meant that he is also important to her, and that caused him such happiness that would last him the rest of his life.

"Thank you," he buried his dirty face in her clothes as he hit the ground with his boots. "When we get back, I want to become a scout and be useful to you," he looked into Theia's face with a smile.

"Above all, don't die, that way you'll be most useful," Levi pointed out irritably and rolled his eyes. He was really looking forward to that. Another recruit who will admire his wife. Fuck.

"Armin, Flosh, get those people on the ships. Jean, occupy the buildings nearby with Connie and Sasha and your teams," Theia ordered coldly.

"That bitch is hiding somewhere," Levi stated seriously and noticed movement in the distance. And then the chain rattled through the air and he instinctively pulled Theia behind him, but the scythe still found its target and sliced right through the body of the shocked blond boy who was standing just a short distance away. Theia's pupils widened as she heard a pained moan and registered the tip of the metal scythe from Asher, who fell to his knees. His bright eyes stared blankly ahead as he spat out the blood that had pooled in his mouth.

"Asher!!!" Sebastian screamed and almost immediately fell to his knees, just before by shock devastated Theia, whose gaze trembled with terror.

"Did I miss? It is a pity!" Staria squealed and pulled Asher's body from which she brutally ripped a metal weapon. Aher fell to the ground and almost instantly a huge pool of blood formed under his body as his face contorted the pain. Theia dropped to her knees in front of him to snatch the medical bag from the rescue team member's hands.
