"Miss Smith, you still haven't returned the book you borrowed over four months ago," Theia grabbed her head.

"Sorry, I completely forgot about it. When I get back from Shiganshina, I'll give it back to you right away. Well, could you please show me the register of births?" She asked, looking around the library.

"Of course. Which year do you need?" She pondered.

"Years 800 and below," she replied after a moment, following the woman into the back alleys, wiping the remnants of blood under her fingernails. She showed her the shelves where she would find the books and she reached for the first one where she found nothing. And this was repeated with another and another. Finally, she decided to reach for the book from 803, where she searched the names of the children born. She stopped her finger on one of them and smiled gently.

On October 14, the year 803, a son, Erwin, was born to Albert Smith and Nancy Smith (née Whitte) within the walls of Rose. She ran her finger over his name and wondered what her grandparents might have been like. Her eyes fell on the names below and she frowned.

On October 21, a second son, Xavier, was born to Timithej Lobbov and Evellyn Lobbov (née Stownes) in Mitras.

"Second born?" she whispered to herself, rereading the lines. Her eyes lingered on his mother's unmarried name and her heart raced. She closed the book and leaned against the bookshelf behind her, massaging her forehead. So, are we really never going to get rid of those bastards? She said to herself. Even if you destroy him, they will immediately replace him with another one. She closed her eyes painfully. Her head was starting to hurt and she was extremely tired. She slid all the books into place and returned to the congress building where she was stopped just outside the gate by the commander of the military police.

"Theia," she turned to him with an unreadable expression. He came closer, scowling angrily and holding a gun in his hands. Theia shook her head slightly.

"I haven't seen you in a long time Commander Nile," she smiled but he pulled her aside by the elbow.

"Where have you been?" He asked disappointedly. She raised her eyebrows as if she didn't understand his question.

"In the library," she replied with icy calmness.

"Bullshit! I have received another report of another corpse whose identity we cannot find," Theia gently freed herself from his grip.

"I'm sorry. Aren't the military police there to prevent things like this from happening?" She asked him in a sarcastic tone.

"How long do you think I'm going to pretend to be blind to all this? I don't know how Pixis manages to keep this in secret, but you all have butter on your head!" She watched his angry expression. "Did you kill him?"

"His death was natural," she replied in a calm voice.

"You threw him off the roof!" He almost screamed but tried to control his voice.

"You see. The fall. Classified as a natural, physical phenomenon," her calm infuriated him.

"You must be kidding me," he grabbed his head.

"Nile, please let me do my job and I'll let you do yours. To be useless," she told him with a sweet smile and Nile gritted his teeth.

"What..." he opened his mouth.

"Women and children are being carried away. They kill, torture, rape people. What have you done with it all this time? The military police are a rotten corporation that has lost anything in common with honesty. The only important thing is that the cups are always full of wine and food and, of course, pockets of gold," she sifted between her teeth.
