Royal City of Mitras 11 May 845 11:05

"If I join you. You will delete Theia's name from the list of people you are sending outside of the walls," Richard Marybell looked into Levi's determined eyes and smiled gently.

"I promised you so,"

"No. It was clear in that letter. If I didn't arrive, you would kill her. There wasn't a shit about  voluntariness and promises. I will become a fucking guardist, but I want your word she will be safe!" Levi said in a clearly irritated voice.

"And you know what the work of a guardist will mean in your case?"

"I want your word! And be aware what happens if you break it," Marybel smiled at Levi's words. It was the smile of the man who got what he wanted.

"After you fulfill your part," Richard handed Levi a pile of fancy clothes with a royal emblem and ornaments.

"What should I do?" He reluctantly took the offered uniform in his hands.

"Make my sister pregnant and then, I'll do what you ask me for. But in the meantime, you should arrange that Theia wouldn't make any stupidity. We both knew her well. I think, she isn't about to accept your decision" Marybell arrogantly raised his eyebrows.

"I will take care of her. Don't worry," Levi said, while he was led to his new room in the luxury part of the mansion, directly in the most lucrative location of the royal city of Mitras. Levi threw the uniform on the bed irritably on which he sat down and put his head in his hands. Civilians from the royal city didn't have an idea about the disaster, which took place within the wall of Mary some time ago. They all lived in their old way, he could only hear the loud yelling of priests, who celebrated the walls as if they were goddesses. The frustrated Levi closed the window, but still watched the busy streets and promenades where ladies walked, with their parasols and expensive dogs. He began to feel that his energy was escaping in a weird way. He sat down on the bed again and pulled out of the small bag he brought here, a military garrison's jacket. He stroked the embroidered, red roses but he was disturbed by knocking. He hid the jacket under the pillow, just before the room was entered by a man who wore the same uniform as he received.

"Captain Ackerman, Mr. Marybell requests your presence. You are going to participate in the king's audience. Please dress adequately," he informed Levi politely and closed the door. Levi reluctantly wore a dark blue uniform with a cloak to his knees, but he hated even the first look of himself in the mirror. He felt like a colorful clown. He tucked the sword behind his belt and went out into the hallway, thinking about how guardists could even fight in that uniform. The answer was clear. They are not fighting, they are just a decoration of this rotting city. On the way to the main hall he met Marrybel, who escorted him to the king. He stopped under the stairs with a red carpet and unwillingly knelt before a gray monarch, in white clothes. Levi had never seen him before. He looked arrogant and measured Levi with a judging look, but he didn't say a word. Only the ministers were talking to him and Theia was right when she claimed she never met more self-important people.

"We will hear your vow to the royal city in three days captain," the hand of the oldest minister indicated that Levi should get out. Farce. Levi thought and turned back to Marybell.

"Why did they call me captain?" He asked and didn't try to keep his voice from sounding irritably.

"Because you are a captain. We will give you a unit of experienced guards, which will directly participate in the protection of the king during important events," without anyone noticing Levi rolled his eyes. "I knew you would be willing to submit because of her," they walked together through the corridors illuminated by the bright spring sun. Levi didn't answer. "It must be difficult. The pain," Levi frowned at Richard's true words. Yes, he was in pain since morning. He had a headache and all his muscles were on fire. His condition was quite similar as when Theia left to the royal city last year for 4 months. "It will never stop hurting, that's the Ackerman curse. You are the perfect creation of human intelligence. Adapted, so you are not able to leave your master, " Levi sighed quietly after his arrogant words. He wasn't here to listen to the same shit all over again. "Oh, I forgot important documents in the hall! Please go into that door and wait for me, I will come back and show you the mansion." Richard pointed his finger to the nearby entrance and turned on his heel, returning by a quick step to the hall. Levi sighed and lazily approached the door. He reached for the handle, but stopped after hearing sounds from the other side. He was thinking for a few seconds, but he finally dared to squeeze the handle which clicked and allowed him to enter the room. He felt the heavy smell of perfume mixed with cigarette smoke and almost immediately got a slap in the form of a view directly to the crotch of Miss Lorelei. She sat on a leather couch with her legs wrapped around Staria's shoulders, who caused Lorelei pleasure with her mouth. He wanted to vomit. It didn't seem that they mind his sudden presence at all, because they continued their activity as if he weren't there. Lorelei moaned cheaply, with her head tilted backwards and a cigarette, stuck on long filters which she was holding between her red nailed fingers. She opened her eyes to look into his disgusted face and smile. She pushed Staria away, sat down and pulled her clothes over her knees.
