Trost District August 15, 7:30 p.m
"Let the final expedition to recapture the wall of Maria begin. Dedicate your hearts!" She didn't know what was louder, the roar of the scouts or the pounding of her heart. She felt nauseous, dizzy, and she wasn't quite sure if she would be even able to mount a horse because of the nervousness that made her pale to a shade of gray. She suddenly felt like regretting this all, and the huge support of the civilian population didn't help her either.
"You still have a chance to leave," she heard a low voice next to her, to which she immediately straightened up to keep a cool face.
"I don't know what you're talking about. I'm not sick at all or anything like that!" She blurted out and Levi shook his head in disbelief. Together, she boarded the wagons, which lowered them behind the walls, where they got out and prepared to leave.
"It will be a long journey. Try not to sit stiffly in the saddle like you always do. Otherwise, you won't be able to be ready upon arrival," Levi warned her gravely as he checked her gear, finally mounting his horse, right next to her. "Don't dare to disappear from my sight," he looked at her with a sharp look, to which Theia rolled her eyes.
"And you don't dare to stop concentrating on your work just because you can't take your eyes off me. You're supposed to protect Eren here, don't forget that," Levi snapped. He knew it. She joins the expedition only to protect Erwin.
At the Commandant's order, all the soldiers lined up and headed towards the Shiganshina District, just before sunset, to protect themselves from possible Titan attacks. A hundred and twenty soldiers made up of scouts and recruits from other units galloped across the landscape while the two units took care of titans. But they tried to get to the place as quickly as possible without any losses and unnecessary fighting. Theia galloped right next to Erwin as Levi approached her from behind to reach for her lower back. He caressed her shirt and pressed the stiff muscles in the exact places that were incredibly sore after the long ride. Theia gasped.
"What are you doing?" She hissed at him subtly, but Levi looked ahead and continued galloping close to her.
"I'm massaging you. I told you not to sit stiffly in the saddle," Theia let out a frustrated breath and closed her eyes at the pleasant sensation his fingers were giving her. He pressed his palm against her hip bone, which cracked in the joint and caused relief to the stiff spine. Theia clenched her teeth to stop a loud moan of pleasure and Levi pulled his hand back and grabbed the reins. "Night is coming soon, we will have to walk. Be by my side. Otherwise, I'll tie you to me," Theia opened her mouth at his request to say something sarcastic, but suddenly her voice caught in her throat. She nodded softly and continued to follow the road ahead. After the sun had set and darkness enveloped nature, scouts dismounted and took out new lamps, which they used to light the way thanks to the glowing crystals. "Don't you want to rest?" Levi asked in a voice so low that only she could hear him.
"Thank you for asking. I'll take a nap here and wake me up when you come back from the expedition," she smiled at his annoyed expression.
"I meant for you to mount the horse and I would lead it,"
"I can't fall asleep in the saddle," she turned her head to look at his serious face. "Levi, you don't have to worry about me so much,"
"I always care. Today is nothing special," he answered calmly and looked at Eren, who was walking right behind him. "Why are you wearing a jacket with the name Smith?" He asked, returning his gaze ahead.
"Nobody mix up two of us,"
"What do you mean by that?" He pierced her with an irritated look. "You never told me you didn't like being called by my surname," Theia shook her head with a sigh. She didn't think there was a person in the world who overthink more than she did. Well, there is, and to top of that, she married him.
