Chapter VII.

She lay in the bed wondering when she let herself be overcome by her emotions the last time like that. And what emotions were those? Anger, hate, sadness? Regrets filled her mind when she turned to her stomach, holding the pillow tightly in her arms. She replayed the memory of how Levi looked in that moment, his face, eyes, expression.

A broken man.

She didn't ask before she attacked him. She didn't know what happened and yet she condemned him so easily. Deep sigh escaped her lips when she scanned the empty room around her because all her things were already packaged and waiting for departure back to the Trost and yet she was unable to leave. She sat down and lazily looked at the desk, where an unfilled report awaited her attention. Mission successful.

Yes, Lobov will go to court. Everything turned out as it should. Or not? She stood up angrily and walked around the room. She massaged her face and went out into the hallway, where she looked around. She had nothing more to do here and decided to say goodbye to her father.

Like always, two days off are ordered after the expedition, so she could see soldiers around the corridors and outdoor areas. Those who survived, at least. She knocked on her father's office door, which was ajar. Mike was inside with Commandant Shadis to whom she saluted.

"Theia. Thanks for your cooperation. Are you going back to Trost, now?" Shadis asked her.

"Yes sir. I just came to say goodbye. I'll give my report to Commandant Pixis as soon as I return," she answered him respectfully, while smiling at Mike, to whom she wanted to apologize for her behavior yesterday.

"Please wait a minute, I have something for that old geezer I would like you to give him on my behalf," Shadis stated, handing Erwin the folder he was holding in his hand, leaving the room. Theia didn't have to guess twice. It's surely going to be some type of expensive alcohol like always. Her eyes finally raised to two remaining men in the office.

"So. I'm leaving. I hope to see you soon," she smiled at both men and left just behind the commandant. They were going to the second floor, where the highest-ranking officers had their offices. They passed through a narrow corridor by a single large window. She looked up at it and her eyes fell on the opposite building where she noticed a small figure sitting on the balcony ledge. It was Levi and her heart clenched to that sight.

"This is a list of soldiers who wish to join the military garrison," Shadis interrupted her thoughts by sudden words, handing her a file from his office as she waited outside.

Ah, so no alcohol this time. Theia hesitantly took documents in her hands.

"Again?" she asked, scanning the names.

"I can't be surprised after the disaster that happened yesterday," Shadis sighed, clearly disappointed.

"Commander Shadis, what exactly happened?" She looked up at him questioningly.

"The storm. No one could see ahead and many titans attacked us at once. Smoke signals didn't work and fighting them was counterproductive. We couldn't use the gear... We couldn't do anything," grey eyes of the officer turned sad, while looking down at the ground and Theia felt a great sense of pity for him.

"I understand. Then, I am leaving. And count on me with those documents," Theia saluted and turned to leave to avoid any further uncomfortable conversation.

"That man. Levi," She was quickly stopped by Shadis's soft voice. Here it goes. Uncomfortable conversation ahead. The name Levi left a bitter taste in her soul. She didn't want to talk about him at all but Shadis continued. "He single handedly killed eight titans in a matter of seconds," he added in a low voice and Theia turned around in surprise thinking something like this is even possible. But her expression hardened right after.
