"Admit, that the reason you didn't want to stay for lunch was because the food was disgusting," Levi grumbled a little disappointed. Theia raised an eyebrow.
"Did you want to stay longer? Are you that hungry?" Levi shook his head.
"I didn't know you cooked. I wanted to know how it tastes," he admitted with his eyes to the ground, walking up the stairs right next to her. Theia smiled
"Then I'll cook for you one day. But something special," she caressed his hand with hers, but otherwise did not touch him. Levi noticed.
"Not in public," Theia looked at his face blankly. "You can touch me all you want, but not in public," he elaborated in his defense for pushing her away at the orphanage where she hugged him.
"So, I'm your secret girlfriend?" Levi felt a lump form in his throat at her last word.
"That's not what I meant. Just show me some respect," Theia smiled and closed her eyes.
"Levi. I know who you are. And I love you like that. I don't plan to change you or force you into things you don't want to do. Love means to want with all your heart the happiness of the other person," she looked down at her feet and kept smiling, while Levi didn't know how to respond to her words. But Theia did not expect anything. Together they came out of the underground, and she felt as if a stone had fallen from her heart. She wanted to write a big dot after everything. What happened, happened. She won't change anything, but what can change is the path she is walking right now.
"I didn't know this was the orphanage you were helping," Levi's words snapped her out of her thoughts.
"I am not helping. I'm just trying to make their lives not so miserable," she corrected him and walked back to the carriage that was waiting for them in front of the military police compound.
"Why are you doing it? You weren't born there," he continued and Theia turned to face him.
"Because I can. I do it because I can..." she told him firmly. Her serious face indicated to Levi that she did not want to discuss this topic further. He walked unsteadily behind her and together they got into the carriage that take them back to Shiganshina. Theia waited for the carriage to move and exhaled. She rested her head on Levi's shoulder.
"We're not in public," she whispered, eyes closed. Levi relaxed and stared out the window. He found her hand, which he took in his. Theia just smiled, but still didn't open her eyes. She felt tired. More than a month has passed, but her health improved very slowly after such blood loss. Unlike her, Levi was completely healthy person. She had to admit that she was a little annoyed by his excessive perfection. She caressed his hand, which was visibly scratched from the handcuffs from which he had broken free underground. Her thoughts began to fade.
Shiganshina District 844 Military Garrison Base
"Hey," there's no way his voice is breaking even into her dreams. "Come on," she opened her eyes in terror to meet Levi's serious gaze. He withdrew his hand from her. "You sleep a lot," he said in a low voice. Theia looked around. She had slept almost the whole way and they were now in Shiganshina. Exhausted, she leaned back and put her hand to her forehead. He was right, she slept almost all the time and it didn't matter where she was.
"I'm sorry," she whispered. Levi frowned at her pale face.
"You should take more of those anemia meds until you get over it," he told her carefully.
"I'm fine," she said, tilting her head back. He held out his hand to her and she closed her eyes.
"Still?" He asked, not hiding his disappointment. He gently stroked her hair.
