"Mike! I'm glad to see you all right!" Theia and Riko jumped off their horse and ran to the group of scouts who were about to leave their temporary basement.
"Theia, I haven't seen you for so long!" Lynn jumped around her neck and happily kissed her on the cheek.
"We have no time for sentimentality! We have to get those young cadets to safety!" They were seriously interrupted by Nanaba.
"I will join you. We have to evacuate the surrounding villages," suggested Theia.
"With your riding skills, you would quickly become food for a titan and Levi would feed us to another Hanje's experiment," Nanaba retorted her again, making Theia feel touched. But she smiled because she knew her friend was right.
"Alright then. You evacuate the villages and we will take care of the defense of the walls. In the evening when the titans are not active we will search the walls to find the hole they came through,"
"Keep your units as far away from the titans as possible, the scouts will take care of them," Mike interjected into the conversation, slipping his blades into his gear.
"People like you should have been behind the walls of Shina long ago," Nanaba remarked bitterly.
"People like me?" Lynn patted Thiea on the shoulder and leaned to face her.
"Nanaba just means that you are important to us, that's why we want to protect you," she explained in a kind voice, but Theia lowered her eyes.
"The next commandant shouldn't just be wandering around here," Nanaba and Mike divided the cadets into groups and assigned a horse to each of them.
"Mike is also the next commandant and he's here," Theia whispered disappointedly.
"What? I can't hear you from the height you're talking to me from!" Nanaba noted with amusement and Lynn laughed at Theia's swollen cheeks.
"Would you be so kind to stop making fun of me?" Nanaba walked up to her to demonstrate their height difference.
"I feel like someone's talking here, but I can't see anyone," Nanaba put her elbow on Theia's head but she punched her in the chest and Lynn laughed again.
"The cadets are ready to go sir!" Bertholdt Hoover announced and saluted, immediately after noticing Theia's presence. She rolled her eyes.
"What kind of fucking tree are you? You could be a colossal titan for sure!" Bertholdt was surprised at her suggestion and Lynn had to hold herself back from peeing with laughter. Meanwhile, Riko got on the horse and Mike also helped Theia into the saddle.
"Erwin wanted to talk to you," he informed her calmly, securing her legs in the straps.
"About what?"
"I don't know. In his letter, he only mentioned, to ensure your safety," he answered her and finally looked into the eyes. "I feel something strange. Something else," he smelled the air around him, as was his habit.
"What are you all talking about today?" She asked amused, but was taken aback by Mike's serious face.
"You are his only daughter. You are indeed, the daughter of all of us, Theia," he stepped away from her horse as he sensed the titans approaching in the air. "I'm counting on you to cover us from the walls," Theia nodded to his last words.
"Take care," she raised her hand in greeting and approached Hannes, who handed her a letter from Commandant Pyxis.
"You too. See you in the evening," Lynn waved.
