Chapter XI.

"Miss Smith, weren't you supposed to be in Mitras?" Upon arrival, they were greeted by a young cadet saluting already ten meters in front of them.

"Certain complications arose. Please, is Pixis here?" She asked as Levi helped her out of the saddle.

"Yes, but commander Pixis had a difficult evening yesterday and..." she walked up to him with a fake smile.

"Trust me. I had a difficult evening, night, and don't make me also a difficult morning, please," she stopped him and together with Levi walked along the familiar path directly to his bedroom. Levi looked with interest around the compound belonging to the military garrison. It wasn't luxury, but this place looked a lot better than a scout base. "The whole Trost is under the direct command of Dot Pixis. That's why we have a headquarters here," she introduced him and without knocking entered the bedroom of her superior, who was lying on the couch with a bottle of rum in his hands. Theia saluted.

"Commander Pixis, I report my returning from Mithras! I have disturbing information for you," Levi frowned in surprise as he watched the older man slowly try to sit up.

"So noisy," he muttered sleepily. Theia walked over to him, sat next to him on the couch and put her arm over his shoulders.

"First of all, I would like to thank you for the wonderful accommodation," she snatched the bottle from his hand.

"But Theia. After all, it is natural that two young people of the opposite sex must be close to each other," he lifted his tired gaze and noticed Levi, standing a little behind the door. "Levi Ackerman?" He asked towards him. Levi reluctantly nodded. "So, you're the miracle Erwin was talking about," he added, getting to his feet. He walked up to the black-haired man to shake his hand. Levi accepted it and watched him closely. "I am Commander Dot Pixis. Cadet Smith's superior and I lead the military garrison. The fact that you're here together means our little secret isn't so secret anymore," he turned to a frustrated Thea, still sitting on the couch.

"Anyway, I'd like to know whose idea it was to give me two missions at the same time?" She asked indignantly, placing the bottle on the table.

"Bred is missing," Pixis informed her with a heavy heart. Theia looked to the side. Levi frowned as if he understands the situation. "I'm withdrawing you from this mission. You will stay in Trost until the military police find him," he added, and she did not protest. A moment of silence was broken by the pouring of alcohol into glasses. "Mr. Ackerman, do you drink alcohol?" He asked handing him a glass. He took it in his hands and drank.

"I prefer black tea," he added after licking his lips at the sticky liquid.

"A strong man needs to rest sometimes with good alcohol and a beautiful woman," he laughed. "Beautiful women are no longer interested in me, so all I have left is the alcohol. But you can still choose." Theia rolled her eyes.

"Commander, I will lead Levi to Shiganshina and give father a report. I'll be back right after. And I'll take a new carriage, the one before that was stolen from us," she informed him and picked the dirt from behind her fingernail.

"I'll take it out of your salary," Pixis added, smiling, and Theia's mouth opened. She nodded resignedly and together with Levi left the room.

"We can ride a horse" Levi suggested.

"Sure, and will you ride me back?" She raised her eyebrows.

"I knew you couldn't ride the horse." Theia angrily turned to him.

"Fine! As you want! We'll go on horseback!" She quickly went to the stables, where at the very end, she carefully pulled a smaller beige horse out of the stable. She tossed him a harness that contained parts which are not usually found on him. Levi watched her the whole time. She jumped on him. She slipped both legs into special straps and tightened the buckles, which secured her a firm seat on the horse's back.
