Military hospital, royal city of Mitras, May 9th , 844

The sharp light cut into her eyes and her whole body was in one fire. Did they drug her with the serum again? She didn't want to believe that death would hurt so much. With all her strength, she opened her eyes and was immediately hit by another burst of pain after trying to move.

"Don't do that," she heard a voice that made her smile immediately.

"Dad," tears of joy welled up in her eyes as she realized that the light that was burning so brightly in her eyes was the sun and that calm voice belonged to her father. Suddenly she didn't mind any pain. She opened her eyes wide to see his lovely face. "You caused us troubles," he pointed out, closing the book she had bought him for his birthday last year.

"You haven't read it yet?" She asked in a weakened voice.

"I keep reading it over and over because my daughter gave it to me," he answered her and gently stroked her hair.

"How long have I been out?" She straightened as she felt an incredible pain in her back.

"Twenty-four hours," he replied with a frown.

"What actually happened?" She looked around as if looking for someone.

"Lobov is dead. Theodor Heerring blew up the whole place, many people died and we arrested the survivors," he answered her question in a serious tone and watched her thoughtful face. "You don't want to talk about what happened there?" Theia shook her head.

"I guess I need to sort my thoughts before I share them with anyone, but tell me how I got out?" She asked despite knowing well the answer.

"Levi," the sound of his name sent a pleasant, warm feeling spreading over her body again.

"And where is he?" Confused, she looked up at Erwin, but instead of answering, he took a paper with a pen from the table.

"Could you sign it?" He handed it to her and she frowned in shock.

"I almost died and the first thing after I open my eyes is, that I have to sign documents?" She raised her voice until her throat hurt. "Where's Levi?!" she looked around again in a panic.

"Please," he demanded, and she furiously tore the paper from his hands. She looked at its contents and held her breath. "We can't stand him. He terrorizes the nurses and the guards," Erwin smiled and leaned back in his chair. Theia closed her eyes. She had completely forgotten her order to Levi. She signed a statement in which she confirmed the cancellation of her order to expel him from the capital and prohibition of contacting her. She threw it at Erwin and tried with all her might to sit up. "I told you, don't do that. You'll tear your stitches," he warned her gravely, and Theia laid back on her side. She gritted her teeth as she endured the unbearable pain of her back and, in fact, her whole body.

"I think we'll have time to talk later," he said politely. "You need to rest,"

"What's with him?" The pain made her nervous. "Why don't you answer me? What happened to him?" Erwin walked to the door without saying a word, which he opened and left, but did not close behind him. "Shit," she slammed her head on the pillow and exhaled deeply at the unbearable feeling of the wounds. The door clicked softly and she heard it even through her own painful moans. She looked towards them and her gaze softened. He walked towards her, dressed in a casual white shirt and black pants, holding the paper she had just signed tightly in his hand. He stood close to her bed looking at her with cold, blue eyes that froze her. She carefully slid back into bed.

"Why do you look so good?" She asked him, examining his face where she noticed a few visible scars. He smiled in disbelief.

"I'm sorry I failed your expectations and didn't die," he replied sternly and she took a breath, ready to say something, but he closed his eyes. "Don't ever do that again," he continued, her gaze falling on the document he pressed in his hands.

"Levi, I..."

"Never, do you understand?!" He cut her off with a firm voice that surprised her. "I don't care how many wounds, torture, fights and death await me. I can handle anything. But don't ever try to push me away again," he didn't give her the chance to defend herself. "You can't..." he paused and looked away. "...you can't show me what it's like to not be alone and then take it all away from me," he said in a low voice and Theia's face turned sad. "None of the torture was as bad as feeling like you're being hurt and I can't do a shit about it. You can't imagine how I felt, how it destroyed me and still destroys me," he paused again for a second and lowered his gaze. "I'll probably never be good at expressing my emotions, but please. Don't leave me," Theia's eyes filled with tears. "I don't want to be alone anymore," he whispered, and the first tears wet her face. "I can't be without you. I..." he clenched his fists and closed his eyes tightly to help with his internal battle with himself. "...I love you," his words echoed over and over in her head. He stood over her bed motionless and silent. Even the craziest fight with the titans was not as difficult for him as saying these few sentences. He was afraid to look up to meet her gaze. But she grabbed his sleeve and gently pulled him to her. He fell to his knees and buried his head to her blanket, hugging her legs. She noticed his bandaged hand for the first time and she stroke his head, hearing his soft sobs. She exhaled and hid his head in her arms, so no one could see his tears. She gently kissed his hair, which was so soft and fragrant again.

"I love you, Levi. I love you. A long time ago," she whispered, but he wasn't going to raise his head. He hid from her, himself, and the world until he calmed down completely. He wiped his face to the blanket and looked at her with reddened eyes. She was smiling.

"From now on you are mine. So, learn to live with it," he said seriously and Theia raised an eyebrow.

"And what will that involve?" She asked curiously. Levi smiled sarcastically, grabbed her chin and kissed her gently.

"This..." he replied, still looking into her eyes as she touched her lips sheepishly.

"You can't," she warned him with a smile.

"What?" He asked.

"Touching me so suddenly," she laughed softly and Levi straightened up.

"I don't really care what you say," he answered in her own words, Theia's expression indicating she remembered them well. She laughed out loud and Levi watched her cute, happy face again. "And the next time you do something like that, I'll break your legs and tie you to the bed," she paused and frowned, because she realized that he would really be able to do that. "And now you need to rest," he arranged her pillow and placed her on the bed. She looked wordlessly at his injured hand, which he was obviously trying not to use.

"How did you get out of those chains?" She asked him in a weakened voice, hissing in pain at the first movement.

"I got out, that's all," he answered and helped her lie down comfortably. Theia raised an eyebrow and Levi rolled his eyes. "I ripped it out,"

"What are you?" She sat down again and took his hand in hers, shocked. "Do you have all your fingers? Didn't you break your hand?" She inspected it with her gaze and Levi watched her with pleasure for a moment.

"Stop it. I'm fine!" he pushed her back down and she looked away.

"I'm sorry," she said in a low voice.

"That should be my words..." he corrected her, stroking her head. "I shouldn't have let something like that happen in the first place. If you hadn't put a message to Erwin's pocket about calling all the military units, we'd probably both be dead," he said honestly. "Your good plan saved us again,"

"Everything went well," she whispered and Levi frowned. Both his head and his heart were consumed by painful thoughts, all of which he did not prevent and from which he did not protect her. He clenched his hands into fists. Just thinking about Lobov touching her body made his blood boil. He began to shake with anger. He wanted to dig him out of the ground, break all the bones in his body one by one, and then chop him into small pieces.

"Levi?" He brought his fantasies back down to earth and looked into her eyes. "What's going on?" She asked in shock.

"Nothing," he shook his head and patted her head to hide his irritation. "Get some rest,"

"And where are you going?" she asked him, closing her eyes.

"I'll be here," he sat down on the chair where Erwin was sitting just a while ago.
