Chapter XI. - Just the two of us

Shiganshina district 17.th July 844

She was awakened by the pleasant feeling of warm fingers on her skin. She didn't want to turn around or open her eyes, she just smiled softly and winked.

"Good morning," she announced her awakening in a hoarse voice. She was lying with her back to Levi. His fingers played with her hair and gently caressed her hand.

"Morning," he replied. She exhaled and turned her body to face him. She looked into his light blue eyes which were following her face. "Did you sleep well?" Theia nodded with a smile, pushing the fallen strands of hair away from his face.

"And I thought you were a man who just didn't have a beard," she smiled after the fine stubble on his cheeks pricked her fingers. Levi rolled his eyes. "But those are the benefits of waking up with you in the morning," she continued, snuggling into his chest.

"Benefits?" He stroked her back and Theia noticed the clear blue sky outside the window.

"Your sleepy face, unkempt hair, morning stubble..."

"Horrible breath," he interrupted her romantic talk.

"You're an idiot!" She took a pillow in her hand and hit him in the chest with it. She laughed and he grabbed her hand, pulling her back into his arms. He truly loves her laugh.

"When did it stop raining?" She asked, stroking his chest with her nails.

"Above the morning," she frowned.

"Didn't you sleep?"

"I was thinking," Theia pulled away.

"About what?" Levi rolled onto his back to sit comfortably.

"There's still something to think about," he put on his shoes and stood up, watching Theia in his bed out of the corner of his eye, wearing his t-shirt. He wanted to jump at her again.

"If only this could take forever," her voice was quiet. "I want to wake up and fall asleep with you every day," he looked at her through the reflection of the mirror he was standing in front of. He dipped the razor in a container of water and began to shave one side of his face.

"You would soon have enough of me. I'm obnoxious," Theia smiled and nodded. "I'm still in a bad mood," she nodded again and she was quite sorry that he got rid of the cute stubble so quickly "Also high demands on roommates and especially I don't want any of that to rub off on you," she laughed softly. He wiped his face, put down the razor and took the scissors between his fingers.

"It sounds great," she added, rolling over on her stomach in bed, watching Levi cut the ends of his hair as it fell to the floor. "Is there anything you can't handle?" He frowned at her question and turned to her.

"What?"

"Nothing," he put the scissors down and immediately cleaned up the mess. Right after that he started to put on his uniform, "Correct me if I'm wrong but don't you have time off today?" He looked at her surprised face and rolled his eyes.

"Not,"

"What do you mean by not?" Levi snapped, crossing his arms over his chest.

"If you want me to spend my free day in a crowd of noisy and ill-mannered people, then forget it," he replied sternly.

"Oh yes. You mean the summer festival. That's not what I meant. I went to see it yesterday morning with Ilse and the girls," she answered and looked at the ground in shame. Levi frowned. He had never seen her so indecisive.

"So, what did you want?" He searched for her gaze fixed somewhere on his shoes.

"Nothing. Sorry, I don't want to bother you on the only day off you have," Levi rolled his eyes in annoyance and sat down next to her on the bed.
