Chapter LXIII. It's time to say goodbye

"Levi...'' She stood in front of him, only in her nightgown and after a short moment of staring dreamily at him, she stepped back from the door, so he could enter her room. She closed the door leaning against it and watched him walk across the room unable to take her eyes off his beautiful face, sparkling eyes and perfect body. His shirt sleeves were rolled up above his elbows and his veiny arms were a little more slender than she remembered, until she realized that now, it is actually the body of Levi, who is 26 years old. He was much slimmer, paler and had huge, dark circles under his eyes. All that changed during the years he spent with her, so she almost forgot what kind of person he used to be. But she understood herself well, that she had fallen in love with him, because it was happening again, right now, at this moment, she was falling in love with him again, as it had happened many times before. She looked down when she noticed he still hadn't said a word. A few days have passed since that incredible event, when, for unknown reasons, they found themselves in the past. But she and Levi agreed that it must have been Eren's ability as the founding titan. Although neither of them understood how Eren could do such a thing, they believed he wanted them to change the bloody future of Paradis. As a result, Theia's mind had been somewhat focused on the tasks of securing safety within the walls for the past few days. After Grisha Jeager's agreement, he was placed into the prison. They arrested Marybel and Stownes. They found Ymir and Historia and a royal coup was about to start. It all happened so fast that Theia almost forgot how incredible it really was. "So have you finally been released from house arrest?" She asked, finally breaking the agonizing silence.

"It looks like Erwin finally believed you. I heard you even broke his table," Levi sat on the windowsill and Theia smiled.

"You know I don't have the patience for long explanations, but in the end it looks like he is a little more passionate about the cause than I am. That doesn't change the fact that they don't have the right to lock you up. And those fucking bars and chains, I wish they would all just disappear. I didn't want you to be there even a minute longer," she searched for the look he was hiding from her. He had barely looked her in the eye in recent days. Was he angry that she didn't get him out of prison sooner or what?

"You are his daughter, he has no reason not to trust you, after all I am just a stranger to him and everyone here. I can't be surprised that they locked me up," Levi looked out the window and his words only caused Theia pain. He was right, unlike her, no one knows him yet. Not Hanje, not Erwin... no one.

"Well Furlan and Isabel are here..." Levi nodded gently after her words.

"I realize that after these ten years I don't even know them anymore," he answered her calmly, but then he closed his eyes angrily and shook his head. "No. I don't want to sound like I'm complaining. Everything will be fine, I'll be fine. I'm happy, really..." he started talking a little faster and Theia just listened to him in silence. He was sitting on the windowsill, curled up in the corner, avoiding her gaze. And after he turned away unhappily, she walked up to him to pull him into her arms. She hugged him tightly enough for him to feel it but gently enough to bring him the relief he needed so much. He just stared straight ahead for a moment before finally moving his hands to her back where he placed them to hide his face in her shoulder. He felt like a total idiot. Instead of being happy to be healthy and with Theia again, he was dominated by a single emotion, and that was terror at the sight of her decaying, dead body. He thought he was going crazy. Every time he closed his eyes, he had this scene in front of him. Over and over again. He pressed her to him even tighter. "I'm sorry," he whispered, but Theia immediately shook her head.

"Never apologize for how you feel and never try to bury it inside yourself. Your feelings are important and I'm here to share them with you, Levi. I love you so much... I'm here," but he kept shaking his head as if he didn't believe a single word, she said.
