All members of the scout unit prepared to leave the Trost.

"Thank you for your help. Even though it was our problem, I'm really glad we can still work together," Pixis thanked formally and shook hands with Shadis. He nodded towards Erwin and the others. Standing behind Pixis, Theia walked over to her father.

"Farewell. Please come back alive from the upcoming expedition," she wished and smiled. Erwin put his hand on her shoulder.

"Take care. I'll write you a letter as soon as we return," he answered her with a smile and together they walked to the gate. "By the way, that thing you asked me for..." Theia quickly looked around to see if Levi wasn't around. "How did you know he couldn't read?" He asked her.

"In Mitras, when I handed him the parchment with the names of the places where we would go. The library was not on that list. Well, he didn't notice it even though it was right in front of his eyes. He didn't even respond to the inscriptions in the books that I showed him, and he confessed to me on the way to the Trost end the end," she said very quietly.

"He has the basics, but he can't put words together. He will soon learn under my guidance," Theia smiled.

"Thanks dad," she leaned into his arm. Erwin was surprised at her sudden good mood, but he let her go. They arrived at the gate, where she finally met Levi's gaze, who was ready to jump on his horse. She raised her hand in greeting and he nodded in response.

"Survive," she whispered into the silence. Pixis walked towards her with slow steps, watching her sad look.

"Theia, I wanted to talk to you," she sighed, knowing what it was about. "Officially, for your essential help during the Lobov case and of course for your participation in the destruction of the underground drug cartel, I am promoting you to a captain of the military garrison," Theia rolled her eyes.

"But Commandant, if you want to give me an office, you don't need to bother with such formalities," she objected to him sarcastically. Pixis smiled.

"You will have an office. But not in Trost," Theia frowned.

"What do you mean?"

"I'm transferring you to Shiganshina command," she parted her mouth. "It's an order from Mitras. I'm supposed to send someone over there to oversee the order and redistribution of the supplies that the scouting unit will bring," she turned to the departing scouts in surprise.

"Are those ministers digging their nose into what they don't understand. again?" And why me?" She asked suspiciously.

"We're not going to lie, Theia. You and Bred are the only ones left from the special unit. Bred is unusable and the other two are missing. We are running out of competent people,"

"What about training someone new?" She asked hesitantly. Pixis shook his head.

"Even your training lasted more than a year. And some time ago we lost a person who trained new cadets. We are in a complicated situation," he put his hands behind his back and looked at the blue sky. "You are probably the next target of attack and we don't even know who our enemy is. I don't want to put you in even more danger. We can't afford to lose you too," he explained to her seriously.

"And that's why you're sending me to Shiganshina, where Simon died," she smiled ironically.

"Yes, I know. And that's why you're going to replace her as captain by restoring the old base, which is under the direct supervision of the scouts," Theia took a breath. "And you can gather evidence against Stownes again," she smiled after those words. "And of course, you'll have the young recruit who politely asked me for a new armchair to your bedroom," She gasped, not having a chance to hide her embarrassment. Pixis laughed. "Ah, If only I could to be young again," he took out a small bottle of alcohol from his pocket. "Take what we discussed here as an order," he said seriously. "You'll pack up and move to the base in Shiganshin this week with the new team I'll be assigning you,"

"You want to get rid of me so quickly?" She asked with a sad smile.

"That's not true at all, Theia," he walked over to pat her on the shoulder. "I stole you from your father in order to throw all the responsibility on you one day, so you must gradually prepare for it. I'm counting on you!" He took a drink, turned and waved at her. Theia gritted her teeth with a playful smile.

"That old bastard. He's too busy to get drunk all day, and he dares to hide behind my protection?" She growled. But it was decided for her. She had no choice but to start packing.

The base of the scout unit was, as always, upside down just before the expedition.

"I'm counting on you Mike. It's your first mission as a captain so don't let us down," Commander Shadis went through the list of units. A tall man with a short haircut and a mustache under his nose nodded without saying a word. Shadis' gaze shifted to Erwin. "I'm assigning Levi to your team. I expect from you, as an extermination unit, a safe transfer through the territory. We need to get about 50 kilometers behind the walls. We will be there at full speed with the caravans in 40 minutes. We will collect the harvest and the prepared fuel as quickly as possible. You will protect the group," Erwin nodded and Levi was listening the orders quietly from behind. "Failure is out of the question. Not this time," he closed the file and looked ahead. "One more thing. Today, a new supervision from the military garrison will arrive in Shiganshina. That person will be responsible for the walls, order and redistribution of the supplies we bring. So, I hope we will not look like a bunch of morons and bring back more raw materials than corpses this time," he warned them seriously.

"A supervision, why?" Hanje asked.

"The royal city is becoming dissatisfied with the scouting unit's performance. That person will watch over us," he answered her question in frustration.

"Why from the military garrison?" Hanje asked again.

"Did you see anyone from the military police who would voluntarily come in here to communicate with us?" he smiled pathetically. "Well, that's all for today. You have the next two days off. Rest if your duties allow it. Dismiss!" He ended the meeting and sat down at a desk full of files. He needed to finish his work before the new supervision from the military garrison arrive.

She sighed. She wasn't expecting a castle, but this was a disaster. She passed through an old, low gate along paved path leading to a smaller house belonging to a military garrison. It was abandoned for some time, as soldiers from Shiganshina served there. But the new orders allowed to bring this place to the life again. A few people began to swarm around her. A cook, two helpers in the kitchen, two maids, a doctor with a nurse, some administrative staff, a maintenance man, five administration stuff, some cadets and of course Theia and her new team consisting of four members. The building was big enough for all of them, but it was going to be very difficult to get it into a condition that she would be satisfied with.

"Captain," she didn't respond. "Captain, please," a cadet stood in front of her, barely a bit taller than her. She was frightened because she was not yet used to her new rank. "Are you going to divide the rooms so we can start carrying things into them?" The young cadet asked almost immediately.

"I'll divide the rooms, but before anything can be carried into house, this building will be scrubbed from ceiling to floor," she scowled in disgust.

"Captain Smith, I see you've taken your move in a hurry," she leaned over the windowsill she was washing to see who was talking to her so awkwardly.

"Commander Shadis!" She jumped out and pulled the white scarf off her head. She saluted.

"That's not necessary," he stopped her and looked around. "No one has lived here for a long time," he noted.

"But after today it will look like new. And it is also an advantage that the base of the scout unit is only two hundred meters from us," she smiled. Shadis nodded vaguely. "Commander, don't take me as some scouting unit supervisor," she said seriously and Shadis finally met her eyes.

"I hope you feel comfortable here," he told her coldly. "We're leaving in two days. I'm waiting for you at the gate. I think it will be time for your new unit to secure the walls," Theia sighed.

"Understood sir. As you wish," he turned to leave and she turned back to work. She really felt a warm welcome that made her want to vomit.
