It was warm, despite the cool nip to the morning air. Beams of light from the first tendrils of morning danced through their windows, and little crystals Mingi had hung from the curtain railings shone dozens of tiny little rainbows through their home. The faint sound of the breeze and birdsong painted the morning soundscape with calmness, and somehow, the air tasted sweet.
It was a beautiful morning to lay in bed, cuddling Mingi... A beautiful morning to spend together... Their first morning, engaged...
However leaning against their bedroom door frame, he gazed at Mingi in bed... Dark hair splayed out over a white pillowcase... Soft face filled with morning light as dark lashes rested heavily over his cheekbones. Blankets tucked up around his chin, but the hint of his hand poking out the top...
He could see the outline of his body beneath the blankets. The way he curled towards the empty space he himself had inhabited not so long ago... The way his legs were slightly curled, and the soft C-curve of his spine...
Feeling something brush past his leg, he glanced down to see Mittens diving her body against his ankle, right to the very tip of her tail before she pounced over to the bed and began climbing her way up the packed bags at the end, until she could climb over the blankets and up to Mingi's face. She dug her nose in beside him until she made a hole in the blankets, before crawling underneath.

He supposed Mittens wasn't that bad after all.
He decided to drape another blanket over them, smiling when he pressed a soft kiss into Mingi's temple and he heard him hum sweetly, nuzzling into his pillow.
It was the perfect morning to sleep in with him.
However painted in little rainbows that danced slowly through their room, he left the two alone to go to their kitchen instead.
Little rainbows were splayed through their living room too, and he realised that he hadn't noticed he'd never been up this early under this roof before, when he saw the way the little glass-marker drawings on their kitchen window were glowing golden in the sunrise, reflecting colours onto their countertop. Mingi had added to the artwork—adding Mittens and little doodles of hearts and stars around them, and it made his heart warm. There were dashes of colour on their faces that didn't belong there, and it took a moment to realise what the red, blue and gold was...
Paint...
Little plants lined the windowsill, and he gave each of them a little water from a glass. They were Mingi's pride and joy, and it made him happy seeing how much the brunette loved them.
However beside the plants was a little white patterned pot, with a small photograph beside it. A photo of a young boy, and a woman...
