'Dadda dadda dadda~' Nabi cooed at the dinner table, merrily showing her hands into her mash potato and peas and wiping it all over her face.
San was fairly sure he was going to throw up just listening to it, but surprise surprise, her fathers looked smitten on either side of her.
'Hyung, I don't think there's any point in cleaning her face,' Wooyoung sighed beside her as Hongjoong wiped her cheeks for the second time. He thought back to one of the many child health textbooks he'd read belonging to his Hyungs when Nabi had first been thrust upon their doorstep, and he couldn't help but worry... 'I thought you were supposed to let babies eat messy?'
Yeosang laughed, apparently not concerned, despite nodding. 'Yes, but if he doesn't, he can't look at her.'
'Ya,' Hongjoong argued, but smirked alas, and despite the way he let out a humbled sigh as Nabi rubbed more mashed greens into her face, Hongjoong still rubbed his hand gently over the back of her head fondly.
San took his glass of wine from the take and took a tentative sip. Reaching out, he gently ran his hand down Wooyoung's spine until it rested over his lower back, and he rubbed gently. The blonde turned and blinked at him in surprise, eyes round and adorable, and so putting down his glass, he reached out and brushed his temple softly. He looked so happy at home. He'd been so excited to go home for dinner, agonising over every minute the hand on the clock turned until they could go over.
After a hard night the night before, he'd been in need of some time with his family.
And now that he was there with them all, seeing they were well, he was glowing radiantly with happiness.
Seonghwa's voice however interrupted their moment as he heard him say, 'babe, do you want to get the stuff on your desk?'
Boring. San wanted to go back to gazing at his boyfriend, ignoring his friend.
However Hongjoong's reaction had stolen away Wooyoung's attention, which in turn slightly distracted him too.
'Ah— Back in a second,' Hongjoong said as though he'd just remembered something important, ducking out of his chair and briskly making his way into his room.
Left at the table, Yeosang took a sip of his wine across the table from them, looking rather like he had had a long day. He was behaving strangely, and it was weird to think he now knew him well enough to be able to recognise not only the way Yeosang was acting, but the way Wooyoung and Hongjoong were reacting in response—everyone seeing that something was going on, but waiting patiently for it to be brought up...
Or at least that's what he had suspected at first, until it occurred to him that maybe, they all knew already. They didn't even need to exchange words, to read each other's minds. It was like a superpower. Some weird, foreign kind of mind reading. He wondered if he'd known Mingi long enough, if they'd have that same power...
