The large mountains in the south were always covered with blankets of white snow. The temperature surrounding them made it impossible for the snow to melt. But now, five years later, as Jungkook tracks up these mountains again, he finds it abandoned of snow.
The snow in the remaining area has melted, safe from the peaks of the mountains. One of the last times Jungkook remembers hiking here is with the rest of his friends when they traveled to Jimin's pack after his father was attacked by the rogue wolves. That, to this day, remains the best memory he had with the boys and Y/n.
He can't help but compare the state of these mountains to the alpha who rules them. Park Jimin seems to have lost himself too. He wondered if these mountains were mourning with the man, desperately trying to catch the attention of a certain woman who left the man in his devastating guilt years ago.
The more he travels upwards, the more the dense fog of the forest attempts to choke him with its tense atmosphere. It makes him glad that his fiancé didn't accompany him on this journey. Soojin is beautifully brave, one of the strongest women he's ever met. But she would be too overwhelmed in this environment.
He doesn't want to bring her to a place where they will be soon actively hunting down and chaining Jimin up. And while he had told Y/n to come, and it was highly unlikely that she would, a small part of him hoped for her to show up only when they had succeeded in putting Jimin down.
Just thinking back to the interaction he had with Y/n raises the small hair in his body. When he had spotted her at the festival, he admits he had trouble recognizing her for a moment. As the years have passed, she has changed. Unfortunately, not the kind that would give his restless heart some peace.
He didn't think he would see happiness on her face. After everything that she's been through, his hope to find her living a normal life was just wishful thinking. But he hadn't expected the sight of her dead eyes either. It has stopped him in his tracks. She had tried to smile and pretended everything was okay that day, but Jungkook used to know the withering woman standing before him.
She has been just as lonely as the madman of these mountains. While Jimin has decided to let his pain out to the world, she has suffocated herself with silence all these years.
A deep sigh leaves Jungkook when he spots his fellow brothers slowly gathering outside the entrance door of the pack. He walks up to them, his yearning eyes taking in their appearance. It's been far too long since he last saw them.
Since Hoseok and Namjoon live with Jimin, they are already here. But Jin and Yoongi have also joined them. He heard from Namjoon that Yoongi moved back in after Jimin started showing symptoms of going rogue a year ago. It was an effort to be with him in his hardest time, but seeing how they were gathering up to find a solution to this madness, it hadn't worked.
His elder brothers spot him as he grows closer and Jungkook greets them with a wide smile. They all look exhausted, especially Hoseok and Namjoon. This must be harder on Hoseok. From both sides, he seems to be losing important people in his life. Jungkook wonders when the last time he saw his sister.
