Timeline: When Y/n got home
Mrs. Jung knocks on the door, a tray of warm food in her head. She cracks the door open and peers into the dark room. "How's my baby feeling?"
When she doesn't receive a response, her instinct kicks in. She enters and closes the door behind her, keeping the lights off. "Y/niie." She coos when she picks up on the quiet whimpers coming from the bed.
She walks over, puts the tray on the nightstand, and takes a seat next to the lump on the mattress. "Everything's alright. I'm here." She whispers, rubbing her daughter's knee.
"Come on. Let's sit you up." She moves the comforter off her and slowly coaxes her up. Sniffling, Y/n sits up, hair a mess, face tear-stained and red. She wipes her tears but new ones replace them.
It's been two days since she came back home. Her heat has cleared off, but her body feels more broken than it has in a long time.
"I d-don't know if I will be o-okay." She hiccups, burying into her mother's warm embrace. Mrs. Jung cuddles her to her chest and rocks her as she rubs her back.
They stay like this for a moment, until Y/n calms down enough to speak. "Can I ask something..?" Her voice is trembling with her body.
"Why did you leave M-Mr. Park?" She asks when her mother encourages her.
Hiding in the warmth of her mother, she feels how she tenses up at her words. Y/n pulls back and looks into her eyes.
Her mother looks taken back, eyes searching her face for answers. "How..?"
Y/n sniffs. "Baba told me." She looks down at her hands.
Both women sit in silence for a few minutes, before Y/n hears a sigh leaving her mother's body. "Whatever happened all those years ago, my reasoning does not excuse it. I was young and honestly, too emotional. I was angry at the wrong thing. I didn't talk to either of them for a long time when I found out."
Her mother's smile is sad when she looks up at her. "But I guess my bond with your father was stronger than my anger and my bond with him."
Y/n thinks back to her bond and she realises how opposite she feels about her situation than her mother did all those years ago. She zones in when her mother continues. "The misfortunes that have fallen my family is because of the path I and your father took that day. We shouldn't have left like that. It's my biggest regret. And my children are paying the price for it. His son coming into our lives and bonding with my daughter was a clear sign that I will never escape the horror I caused that man."
"The mistake I made with you, with Vi.. it's all too big of a burden in my heart. I wished for so long I could reach out to him and apologize. But I couldn't get myself to do it. I have been too ashamed of it for so long."
