It wasn't an easy decision, but it was the right one as hard as it may be. Isabella had to think of her unborn child. Silas wasn't marriage material, he himself said he wanted and needed her, he did not claim to love her, nor did he speak of marriage. If she leaves with him and he finds out about the baby, chances are he will dump her, and then when her baby is born it will be labeled a bastard child, but if she married Camran and claims the child as his, her babe would be in safe hands and the McCanes would beleive its of their blood and raise it as theirs!

"Aye, I can not come with you Silas, my heart belongs to Camran, I made a huge mistake sleeping with you tonight." Isabella lied. "Please leave before someone finds you in my bed!"

Silas's world came crashing down, he could not believe that she meant the ugly words that she was speaking, "Nay Isabella!" He cried hoarsely, "your tongue runs ahead of your heart! You do not mean what you say!"

"Aye I do, my heart belongs to Camran, leave now before you are found here, and forget tonight ever happened!"

Silas could not believe his bad luck and in desperation, he pulled her back into his arms and kissed her lips. Isabella could feel his heart hammer against his chest, and she wanted to tell him how much in love she was with him, she wanted to tell him that soon he will be a father, but dared not. She knows what people do to those who are branded bastards, and she had to protect her unborn babe.

Pulling away from Silas, she mustered up all her courage and spoke the poisonous words that would drive her lover away. "I am not in love with you Silas, please go away, tonight was beautiful and I care for you a lot, but I made a mistake, it is Camran that I love and nothing can stop me, I shall wed him on Sunday, this I promise you." Her heart froze and turned to crystal, it was the the only way she knew to keep herself from making another mistake.

Silas's heart stopped beating, he could not understand her words, they made no sense to him. When he made love to her, he felt the powerful connection, why then is she denying herself to him? Was she a player of the heart? Was he mistaken, was she a whore who enjoyed sleeping around before she hooked up with Camran?

Nay, he thought, she was not a whore! Then what is she, he argued with himself as he reluctantly pulled himself out of bed. With a heavy heart he reached for his kilt, he thought he heard her stifle back a cry, but when he wrapped the kilt around his waist, all was still in the room. Taking a deep inhalation of breath, the Druid walked to the door and placed his hand on the handle.

Silas took a second and closed his eyes tightly, walking away from her was one of the hardest things he had ever had to do in his life, knowing that she didn't want him was the second hardest. Without turning around, the warrior said in a broken voice, "I will be waiting on my ship until Sunday evening for you, if you change your mind come to me Isabella, if you choose not to, I'll understand."

The Druid opened the door and walked out into the hallway, he hesitated for a second before he closed the door softly and walked away. Silas did not go back to his room, he walked down the stairs and through the Gteat Hall, and opened the wooden doors. A blast of crisp night air blew in his face and stung his teary eyes, but the warrior continued to the stables where he retrieved his horse and rode him all the way back to his ship.

************

Camran's jaw clenched as he watched the horse with its rider exit Balmoral. His thick hands curled to fists at his side. The bastard had the balls to sneak inside his castle and sleep with his betrothed! Cursing under his breath, Camran marched out of his chambers and headed to the servants quarters. Crashing open the door, he walked inside, pulled his kilt off, and jumped in Mollys bed.
