Evan opened the wooden door slowly, stepping inside the chambers, the Fay found his soulmate by the French window looking out into the rose gardens.

His heart pounded wildly against his muscled chest, what if she rebuked his love? What if she leaves him when she finds out the truth about Saundra and the babe?

Closing the door slowly, the warriors light steps made it possible for him to stand behind her without her being the wiser.

"Why have you forsaken me Gabriel, I have loved you my entire life!" Alana cried to herself with desperation. "I shall never love another the way I have loved you!"

The Fay stiffened when he heard her words.

"Come back to me my lover, for I can not live in a world you don't exist in. I can never love another Gabriel, tis you and only you that stole my heart!"

Pain surged throughout Evan's heart as he listened to his soulmate cry for another man. Without realizing it he dropped his hands to his sides and curled them into fists.

"Enough!" He roared, startling Alana. "You are never to mention the archangels name ever again, I am your future now and I forbid you to cry for another!"

Whirling around, Alana was about to tell him off, but when she looked into his golden eyes that were hazed with anger and disgust, she nearly blanched from fear.

The Fay wanted nothing more than to pull Alana into his arms and tell her how much he adored her, but seeing his betrothed crying for another man drove him mad with anger. "Tonight you will be my wife and as my wife I expect you to obey my every command, and show gratitude for taking you as my wife even though you have given yourself like a whore to another!" He roared, "If you want to save yourself from the shame of giving birth to a bastard child, you must pay me with your life!"

That was not at all what he wanted to tell her, it was the anger and jealousy inside him that controlled his tongue. Evan wanted nothing more than to hold her in his arms and reveal his undying love for her, but his guts had twisted when he heard her cry out Gabriel's name.

Alana knew that he was right, he had the power to ruin her if he chose to. Lowering her eyes to the marble floor she swallowed her pride and said, "Forgive me master, from this moment forward I pledge  to you that I will be an obedient wife."

Evans heart sank, he wanted her to say that she would love him, but instead she called him master, but truth be told, this was a marriage of convenience and nothing more. Had someone plunged a knife in his heart it would have hurt less, he thought, as he looked into her eyes to find even the tiniest show of affection for him, but to his dismay her eyes looked empty. They were void of love and adoration that a woman should feel for her soon to be husband.

With a sinking heart, Gabriel turned around and walked away. Pulling the door open, he hesitated before he stepped out into the hallway, hoping desperately against hope that she would call out his name with a passion, daring to believe that mayhap she had a change of heart and it was him she chose to give her heart to, but she said not a word.

Slamming the door behind him, Evan cursed under his breath as he walked away to prepare for his wedding.

Alana stared at the closed door and depression claimed her. Dropping to the floor, she cried her heart out, knowing that her life would never be the same again.

Placing her hands on her belly, she whispered, "My precious baby, Mama promises you that I will do whatever is necessary to keep you safe and happy. I will give my life to the Fay so I can save you from the life of a bastard."

The Fay grabbed a bottle of whisky and brought it to his lips, the liquid burned as it glided down his throat. His anger and frustration was controlling his heart and he wanted to die a thousand deaths. Slamming his powerful body up against the stone wall, Evan slid all the way down to the floor holding in his hand the bottle of whiskey. Bringing it to his lips again, he swallowed half the bottle in two gulps and felt the room spinning.
