The enlightened beings huddled together as Gabriel appeared in the Heavens. The wise one was the first to congratulate the archangel.
"You did well Gabriel, you passed the hardest and last test, you will gain your golden wings now and rightful position as a leader and protector of the Heavens and earth, and we are all so very proud of you!"
All the enlightened beings gathered around the archangel and congratulated him, but Gabriel could not feel their warmth and love, he was still aching deep inside.
"I know you still suffer Gabriel, but I promise you, soon you will be free of pain, making it easier to enjoy your new position as one of the most powerful archangels that ever existed." The wise one said, expelling a sigh of relief as he walked away that Gabriel passed one of the hardest test ever given to an archangel.
"Wait for us," one of the enlightened beings called out after the wise one.
"Master, are we too moving on to another level of learning?" Asked another.
The wise one did not answer but continued to walk away with a huge smile on his face. He loved Gabriel and was pleased with the outcome.
With tears running down his handsome angelic face, Gabriel tried to accept who he was and what was expected of him. He will be given a new assignment now that will keep him busy, leaving him no time to dwell in his misery.
Turning around, the archangel stretched his now golden wings and prepared for flight. His eyes sparkled with excitement, he was anxious to start his new role and take action on his new assignment.
The Wise one smiled having read Gabriel's thoughts. "Come along now, we must hurry to our next lesson."
The enlightened beings followed after him, excited for the new adventure, knowing that they needed many more lessons of watching humans in order to graduate from their class.

Getting drunk was not something the Fay did quite often but tonight's ordeal made it unavoidable. Swallowing two shots of vodka in one gulp, Evan poured himself another double.
Images of the naked archangel made his guts twist with anger, but even worse than that was watching the woman he had fallen in love with cry for another man!
"Damn her to hell!" He cried out loud before he whipped the shot glass against the stone wall and watched it shatter into a million pieces as it scattered across the marble floor. "You will pay for your betrayal!"
Running his fingers through his thick mane of golden hair, Evan cursed Heaven and earth for his misfortune.
"Evan?" Saundra's sweet voice pulled the Fay out of his miserable thoughts. Her eyes fell on the broken glass and a trace of hope glinted in her eyes.
Something good has happened, she thought, something that was in her favor, she was sure of it.The Fay warriors eyes that were filled with emptiness, lowered and pierced into hers, and she wondered what had him so distraught that he hadn't made an effort yet to take her home.
"Aye?"
"I thought you were taking me home?" She told him, secretly hoping that he had changed his mind.
