Rufus did not sleep a wink all night, because the Queen did not come to him. Was she not feeling well, he thought, was she Feeling under the weather? She never missed an opportunity to slip into his chambers on a full moon night. Pacing back and forth, he wondered if he should risk going to her chambers and see for himself if something was amiss.

The Great Hall was empty and very quiet, the candle chandeliers were weak with light as the flames in the candles were about to die out, but Rufus prefered them this way, it was easier to sneak around the Great Hall when the lighting was weak.

When he reached the queen's chambers, he turned the handle slightly to the right amd quietly entered the huge room, but the Queen was not there, and it was clear to Rufus that she hadn't been in her bed at all on this night! We're might she have gone at the wee hours of the night, he thought, as he quietly made his way back to his own chambers.

*************

The Queen wrapped her cloak tightly around her amd covered her face,  the cold wind stung her face and she was freezing. "Tis very cold out here Valerie, I hope we don't freeze to death!"

"Your highness, the Macalisters have a log cabin near by that they use when they go hunting, it's where I hid William when I nursed him after his accident. Mayhap we should stop there to rest and warm up before we head to Sterlingshire." Valerie's teeth were chattering as she spoke.

"That's sounds like a good idea!" The Queen said, and Valerie pulled the Queen slightly off the dirt pathway towards the log cabin that was hidden a few hundred yards away behind a mass of trees.

The Druidess's immediately started a fire when they walked into the cabin, and the Queen sat next to the fireplace to warm herself.

"Why did you do it?" Valerie asked, still uncertain why the Queen would risk saving her from her awful fate.

"Do what?"

"You saved me, now you have put yourself in danger of exile! Why would you risk everything for me?" Valerie asked, and she stoked the fire. The orange flames blazed and crackled as they licked the logs and brought warmth throughout the cabin.

"Tis was the right thing to do! I could not have waited until my son came to his senses, I feared it might have been too late. I'm sure the King and Basillia were plotting against you and tis was too dangerous for you to be at the palace." The Queen admitted, knowing that she will have to pay a hefty price for her actions when she returns to the palace.

"Thank you, but now you will be tried for treason! This will weigh heavy on my conscience Your Majesty, let's go back, tis not too late to return me to my prison." Valerie reasoned.

"Never! I did what I did for my stubborn son, it is all worth it just to know that one day you will be together again."

"And how do you know that, your son probably hates me now."

"You are wrong Valerie, I know my son, he loves you more than life itself. He was behaving like a stubborn mule, his ego was bruised, and I merely did I what any mother would have done, I have no regrets." The Queen admitted, "The satisfaction alone that I will recieve knowing that come morning the King will find you missing from your prison was worth my troubles." The Queen admitted.

"Where is my daughter!" Seth roared with anger, "if they have touched a single hair on her, I will burn down the palace!"

Stephan sighed, "Cousin relax, let me lead the way, I shall deliver you to her."

Seth narrowed his eyes brows, "You know where she may be?"
