Luke smiled as he ran into the kitchen. Michael had left for work a while ago and Luke was gonna make him a cake.

He wasn't very good at cooking, but he was okay, and he was gonna try his best.

He put on his music and danced around as he dumped the cake mix into the pan, preheating the oven.

He sent Michael a quick text telling him he loves him, and he'll see him in an hour while he waited.

When the oven beeped, he smiled, placing the cake in there.

He couldn't wait until Michael got home, so while he waited, he laid on the couch watching tv until the oven beeped.

-

Michael walked into the house, and immediately the burning smell hit his nose.

"Luke!" Michael yelled, shutting the door quickly.

He ran past the kitchen, and shook Luke awake who was asleep on the couch.

"Thank god you're okay. Something's burning, and I thought you were hurt." Michael whispered, kissing Luke's forehead before the blonde boy got up, running to the kitchen.

"Oh no!" He said, putting on the oven mitts, and opening it. Smoke filled the kitchen, so Michael turned on the fan, and opened the window.

Luke teared up as he looked at the once white cake, but now it was burnt, and crumbled when you touched it.

"I'm sorry." Luke whispered, turning to look at Michael. "This was supposed to be perfect."

"Baby, it's okay." Michael laughed, but Luke just let tears fall over his cheeks as Michael pulled him into his chest.

"I know you wanted everything to be perfect, but it's okay." Michael told him, rubbing his back. "This is still an amazing birthday, and all I wanted today was to spend it with you." Michael told him, and Luke sighed, wiping his eyes.

"I messed it up.." Luke whispered.

"No," Michael whispered, running a hand through Luke's hair. "You just being here makes it the best birthday ever."

"You promise you're not disappointed?" Luke asked softly.

"I promise."
