"Michael. You're late.." Luke said softly as he walked in the door.
"Just 30 minutes.." Michael muttered, putting down his keys and wallet.
"But you know I get worried. You should've called me." Luke said, and Michael sighed heavily.
"Would you rather me call you and die because I was on my phone in the car, or be a few minutes late and-"
"Michael please just stop." Luke whispered as he finished putting the dishes away.
"What? If you actually had a job you would understand. I can't always get out the time I want to." Michael said, and Luke turned to look at him.
"You said you respected my decision to stay home with carter until he gets a little older." Luke said softly, and Michael scoffed.
"Yeah cause I thought you would actually be taking care of him. You can even have his clothes washed by the time I get home." Michael said loudly
"I have other stuff to do, and at least when I sit on the washing machine I cum. You haven't been able to make me do that." Luke said, and Michaels eyes widened as Luke started walking away.
"I bet that's not the only thing you've been sitting on you little whor-"
Michaels yelling was shortly cut off.
"Dad?" Michael heard a soft voice ask, so he turned and saw carter standing at the bottom of the stairs with his blanket wrapped around him. There were tears falling from his eyes at a rapid pace.
"Why are you fighting?" He asked softly. Luke walked over to him, and kneeled down, wiping his tears away.
"We aren't fighting. It's okay. It's my fault." Luke said quietly, so Carter shook his head.
"You are fighting. He was yelling at you. And you yelled at him. I thought you loved each other. We're a family." He said softly, his lip trembling again. He was just scared. He's never seen Michael and Luke get angry like this.
"Listen, baby. Sometimes when we yell, it's not because we don't love each other. It's because we love each other too much. I was just worried because he didn't call home. I wasn't angry with him. I still love your dad with everything I have, and I love you more than anything in the world. No amount of fighting will ever change that." Luke said softly, and Michael kneeled behind him, holding onto his waist.
"But he was yelling like he was mad at you. He was about to call you a mean word." Carter said, looking back at Michael. Luke sighed, not knowing what to tell him.
"I deserved it.." Luke whispered, pushing Carter's short hair behind his ear
"No you didn't. You don't deserve to be disrespected like that. I'm sorry Luke. There's no excuse for the way I spoke to you. I love you." Michael whispered, kissing Luke's temple.
As small smile spread across the little boys face as he watched Luke kiss Michael quickly. He loves seeing his dads so happy.
"See? Everything's okay, and it's always going to be okay." Luke whispered, wiping the rest of Carter's tears away before the little boy hugged them both.
