The blonde boy was tapping silently on the table, a blank look on his face as he stared at the empty table made for 6. He occasionally looked around and saw people talking to their friends, laughing as they temporarily forgot about everything going on outside of the school cafeteria.
"Hey. Mind if I sit here?" Luke heard a voice ask, so he looked up and saw Michael.
He nodded, and Michael sat across from him.
Michael was special to Luke. He was kind of his only friend. He always talked to Luke even if Luke didn't say anything back. He asked him how his day was, only getting a shrug in return, but it was okay. Michael understands Luke's shyness.
"Hey Luke?" Michael asked, and the blonde boy looked over at him, showing his big blue eyes.
"Wait. Never mind. I was gonna tell you a chemistry joke but all of the good ones argon." Michael said, making Luke lightly smile at the awful joke.
"Cmon. Smile, darling. I have another joke." Michael said, and Luke blushed, pulling his sweater over his hands.
"If a cop pulls over a uhaul truck, are they trying to bust a move?" Michael asked, and Luke rolled his eyes sassily, showing Michael how he was unamused, but he was only kidding.
"Oh, okay, hemmings, do you have a better joke?" Michael asked, and Luke laughed, looking down as he shook his head.
"Hey Luke? Are you the square root of two because when I'm around you, I become irrational." Michael said, and winked, making a fit of giggles fall from Luke's mouth.
Michael watched in infatuation as Luke laughed. He's never heard or seen anything so beautiful. Luke simply could contain the amount of joy he was feeling, causing him to close his eyes and laugh.
He's never felt more happy than when he's with Michael.
Michael is his sunshine, and he needs him. Just having him sitting there, talking, and making Luke laugh made the blue eyed boy feel a little more special.
