"Hey babe." Michael whispered, sitting down beside Luke who was watching some cheesy romance movie.
Luke cuddled into Michael's side, continuing to watch the movie, but it felt more special now because Michael's here.
Luke smiled as the camera zoomed out on the wedding scene, soon enough rolling out into the credits.
"Look at how pretty that wedding is." Luke whispered, holding onto Michael's arm.
"Huge waste of money." Michael whispered, and Luke looked up, lightly laughing.
"But I bet it's worth it.." Luke said, looking up at Michael.
"Why would anyone ever want to get married?" Michael laughed, and Luke's face fell a little bit.
"You know.. Show dedication. Celebrate your relationship.." Luke said softly.
"Getting married is insane." Michael laughed, and Luke sat up.
"Yeah. You're right. It's stupid.." Luke whispered, standing up, walking towards the kitchen.
Ever since Luke was 12, he's been planning his future wedding. He had a wedding book filled with ideas of what he wanted, but he loves Michael. They've been together for four years, and recently Luke's been hinting marriage like crazy, but it's just not something Michael wants.
"Luke is everything okay?" Michael asked, and the younger boy nodded his head, sitting on a bar stool.
"Talk to me.." Michael whispered, sitting beside him.
"I- You said- Do you really never want to get married?" Luke asked.
"Well, I can't say that, but definitely not any time soon. I doubt I ever will." Michael said, and Luke nodded.
"Than what are we doing, Michael?" Luke asked, looking over to him with tears in his eyes.
"What are you talking about?" Michael asked, and Luke sighed.
"Just- could you really not tell that for about three month I've been hinting that I want to get married? It's always been my dream to get married one day, but- but- I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything." He said, running a hand through his hair.
"Finish, Luke."
"No. It's nothing. You're more important to me than some dumb wedding. It's okay." Luke whispered, letting a tear soak into his sweater sleeve as he felt one of his dreams being crushed.
"I'll be right back, okay?" Michael said, and Luke nodded.
Once the older boy left the kitchen, Luke let his head fall on his arm, sobbing quietly. Luke wanted the devotion and commitment so bad. He wanted it all with Michael. A honeymoon, a reception, a ring, kids. He wanted it all.
"Luke!" Michael gasped as he walked back into the kitchen, holding Luke's head to his chest, trying to calm him down.
"What's going on, Luke?" Michael asked.
"It just hurts.." Luke whispered.
"What the h- listen, I wasn't gonna do this today but seeing you like this is honestly breaking my heart. I just said all of that stuff about marriage so you wouldn't expect anything. Baby, I was gonna propose later this week, but- why not now?" He said, getting down on one knee in front of the chair Luke was sitting on.
"M-"
Luke's heart melted when Michael pulled out the most beautiful ring he's ever seen.
"Luke, i love you more than anyone in the whole world, and spending the rest of my life with you is all I want to do. I thought this would happen a completely different way, so please forgive me for my rambling, but I want everything with you. I want the wedding, the honeymoon, the commitment, the intimacy, everything. I am so unbelievably in love with you, Luke. Will you marry me?"
Luke jumped out of his seat, and hugged Michael quickly, causing both of them to fall with their backs to the ground.
"Yes, oh my gosh. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you." Luke cried, hugging Michael's neck.
"I'm so sorry for making you upset earlier." Michael laughed, and Luke shook his head.
"It's okay, Michael because now I know you want this just as much as I do."
