Luke smiled as they got closer to their destination. He couldn't stay still in his seat as Michael pulled into a parking garage.
Michael brought him to market square for the day. Luke had always wanted to go downtown with Michael and just walk around. He thought it was so romantic, and lately, they've been getting very close.
"Thank you for bringing me." Luke said as they walked out on the sidewalk. He moved closer, brushing their hands together, hoping Michael would take the hint and grab his.
"No problem, man." Michael said, putting his hat on backwards.
They walked a little further, listening to the sound of car horns, comfortable silence between them.
"I'm sure Calum already told you, but I really appreciate you coming. I was gonna bring him, but he was busy with Ashton. Today really means a lot to me and if I get drunk, I've got you to drive me.." Michael said, patting Luke's shoulder as the blonde boy turned his head in confusion.
"What? Who gets drunk on a first date?" Luke asked, looking over at Michael.
"It's not our first date." Michael laughed, and Luke blushed, smiling a little. Michael thought of all the times they've hung out as dates. That makes him feel a little special.
Luke couldn't ignore the happiness he felt, looking down to the ground as they stopped in front of a store.
"Hey, babe.." He heard Michael's voice say so he looked up, seeing Michael press his lips to some girl's. His face dropped as he looked at them.
The whole time, he thought Michael was talking about him.
"Luke, meet Addy." Michael said, turning back to the blonde headed boy. Luke lightly smiled, and nodded, not trusting his voice to say anything.
"He's a little shy. Especially around pretty girls." He whispered, kissing the girls cheek.
Luke watched as she blushed at what Michael said, smiling at him, and probably feeling so happy to be in Michael's arms.
Luke walked slowly behind them, giving them their space.
He watched as they laughed. When she would throw her head back, bursting into a fit of giggles, Luke noticed how Michael would look down at her.
It was like she's was the only one he could see.
Luke felt his eyes tear up a little bit. How could he be so stupid as to think Michael would ever want him? Michael looks at Addy as if she is the most delicate, beautiful person on the planet.
Luke wants to feel like that.
He's never wanted anything more than to just be in Michael's arms, feeling prettier with every sweet nothing that was whispered in his ear. He wants to be kissed, and he wants Michael to tell him he loves him.
But Michael wants someone else.
They would always be just best friends.
