"Hey Bucky, Where are you going?" Steve asks as Bucky throws some of his clothes in a small luggage.

"The Barn" He answers, not looking up from what he was doing.

"The what?" Steve asks placing a hand on the small luggage sitting on Bucky's bed.

"The Barn. It's a small home my mom owned. Apparently, she gave it to me when she died" Bucky said, putting one last shirt in it.

"How do you even know that It's still there. I mean it's been what 60 years since anyone has been there." Steve argues.

"I don't, but still it will be nice to go to Vermont for a few days," Bucky replies, zipping up the suitcase.

"Let someone from the team go with you. Then if it's gone, you'll have someone with you." Steve suggests.

"You just want to go to Vermont." Bucky accuses.

"Yeah pretty much" Steve answers sheepishly.

"Go get your bags then"

When the finally arrived at where the home was supposed to be, they stepped out of the car. A cool crisp breeze passed over them, reminding them that even though it was spring, snow could come at any minute.

"So where is this thing," Steve asks turning in a circle. They were surrounded by large maple trees, but there was not even a sign on a home.

"It was supposed to be here." Bucky murmurs slightly disappointed.

"James Barnes," A female voice said from behind them. He turned, but no one was there, Only a single wildflower was laying on the grass, it's petals giving a faint sweet aroma.

"What's the matter, Buck?" Steve asks as Bucky stared at the flower.

"Nothing," He says shaking his head "Just thought I heard something"

"Steven Rogers," The voice said again, and both men turned. Still, only a single wildflower lay on the grass.

"This is starting to creep me out," Bucky says turning in a circle.

"Barnes, Barnes, Barnes" The voice began to chant, her voice growing larger and larger.

"Bucky, What's going on?" Steve says, looking around frantically.

"I have no idea Steve"

"Ro gers Ro gers Ro gers" The voice chanted again. They pulled out their guns and tried to see where the voice was coming from. There was a loud, shrill shriek and a flash of lightning struck right below their feet. Clouds covered the sky and wind swirled around them.

" Captain Steven Rogers and Sergeant James Barnes," The Female Voice said. When they turned, they saw a tan woman with chocolate brown hair loosely braided with wildflowers. Her dress, vaguely resembling a toga, was grey and swirled in the wind.

"Who are you" Bucky called out.

"My name has too many forms to express, though I have always been partial to the Author"

"What kind of name is that?" Steve asks. Her eyes shifted from a calm brown to a storm cloud grey.

"That name is for the readers, you dim soldier" She responded, the storm clouds above their heads growing darker.

Bucky shot Steve a glare and turned the woman.

"Could you tell me where the home is?" He asks. Suddenly the storm clouds cleared and She turned around, sighing.

"Your mother was an amazing friend James. I see that the apple has not fallen far from the tree. As for you Steven, learn to keep your mouth shut" She says. " As for your home, It is not something material, and yet it still is. It had disappeared after your mother's death, yet you have the power to bring it back."

"What is that supposed to mean?" He asks. The woman turned around so that they could see her red eyes and flushed cheeks. The woman looked like she had been crying for years without rest.

"Do you ever wonder why you aren't dead. With everything that you've endured, even the strongest men would have cracked. Have you ever wondered how you survived the fall?" Her voice cracks, tears spilling.

"Not not particularly." He responds looking at the ground.

"You aren't dead because of me" she extends her wrist. On it was a faint scar of letters, JBB.

"What is this," He says looking at her wrist.

"Your life force..." She whispers, "You mother and I were best friends. Before she died, she made me promise never to let you die before you at peace with yourself and your friends"

"How...How long have you been looking out for me?" He questions.

"Before you were born. James, this land is sacred to your mother. I will always be with you 'til the end of the line" She says.

He looks at Steve, not understand how she knows her catchphrase. She laughs slightly at the confusion on their faces.

"You think you invented that line? That was your mother and I who invented it. I must go now. James, this land will provide for you as long as you take care of it. I will come by whenever you need me, but for now, this is goodbye" She snapped her fingers and with a great flash of lighting, she disappears.

"Wow that's was....wow," Steve says in awe.

"Yeah, Stevie, yeah that was," He says turning to the car. When he did, he saw that a little house was sitting on the edge of the woods, a stone path leading from the house to their car.

"Thanks," He whispered to the wind. It warmed and embraced him in its breeze as if someone was actually hugging him.

"Come on Stevie, we have work to be done to the house"
